Briana Tyson’s Family Pulled Up Stakes in California and Moved Her to Nashville For Her First Love… Music

For regular readers of Country Music Tattle Tale, this is a name you may recognize; Briana Tyson is the young woman who put together the “Music For Morgan Benefit as posted on April 3rd, 2010.

On June 10, 2010, Briana had her first, solo acoustic performance at The Listening Room Cafe. I had heard her perform a few songs at various writer’s rounds and benefits I have attended but, this was something special. I knew, even above the noise of the patrons ( and the occasional crash of glassware) that Briana will be a force to be reckoned with in this town.

Already a seasoned professional with songs like “Chasing Butterflies” (B. Tyson, J. Zuffinetti, and P. Barton) and “How ‘Bout That” (B. Tyson, J. Zuffinetti, and L. Carver), it is almost hard to believe that this exceptional talent just graduated high school (June 18, 2010). The power of her vocals is strong enough to send you soaring through the clouds and tender enough to bring you to your knees.

Her debut performance consisted of eleven songs all written or co-written by her and some of the best on Music Row ( P. Barton, l. Carver, N. Hemby, L. Laird, L. Roy, L. K. Starr, and J. Zuffinetti). It’s clear to me that she is really going to be an incredible influence on the music industry.

If you missed this debut you can find her on MySpace or Facebook by searching “Briana Tyson”. A few of the songs from this show are on her MySpace page but, this performer is one I strongly recommend you keep an ear on in the coming months. I personally guarantee that you will not regret it.

I know I’ll be listening…

Music for Morgan Benefit – A Fan Review

“Morgan Watson is a vibrant, young girl with a zest for life that is contagious wherever she goes. She is kind and caring with a heart full of love that is evident in her smile and all that she does. Her courage and faith are immeasurable. Her love for God has given her the strength she needs to fight this battle and the faith to know she can win.”

The venue is The Listening Room Cafe (www.listeningroomcafe.com) in Nashville, Tennessee. It is my favorite ,and undoubtedly, the best room in Middle Tennessee for listening to some of the best singer/songwriters in the business today.

The event for this evening was a benefit to support Morgan Watson who is currently battling ALL Leukemia and featured great music, a raffle and a silent auction with items donated by Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Kellie Pickler, Randy Houser and more.

Despite fighting this disease, which has or will affect everyone at some time during their life, all of us can learn a little something about ourselves from the attitude and bearing of this young lady. The players tonight represent some of the best talent Nashville has to offer and if you haven’t taken the opportunity to catch a singer/songwriter show, you are seriously depriving yourself of some of the best entertainment available. Tonight’s host, and primary driving force, behind this event was Briana Tyson (www.myspace.com/brianatyson). In addition to being a brilliant songwriter, she is clearly a remarkable person. Anyone who hasn’t put together a benefit or charity event before would be astounded the logistics of getting everything together and the love that goes into an event of this size. Ms. Tyson and her friends and family, deserve 5 stars and two thumbs up for putting this one together.

The show opened up with Jennifer Adan/Mark Lonsway (“She Wouldn’t Be Gone”), Phil Barton (“American Dream”), Johnny Bulford (“Don’t Make Me Love You”), and Claire Wyndham/Ben Thompson (“Ordinary Words”). At a normal songwriters round, this would have been more than enough to satisfy anyone…but Briana Tyson had more.

Two more rounds featuring more songwriters you should be looking at. The second set, all girls, featured Jacy Dawn with Mike Valeras (“Just Enough of Your Love”), Baylie Brown with Josh Roberts (“Wasting My Minutes”), Dani Flowers (“Prodigal Daughter”), and Jordyn Shellhart (“Time, Fly”). Following these four talent women, the 3rd set was composed of Brian White (“Unfinished Life”), Jennifer Zuffinetti (“If You Don’t”), Lee Roy (“Wonder What God’s Thinking”), Elaine Roy (“Rain”), and Steve Dean (” Roundabout Way”).

All of these artists can be found on MySpace, Facebook, or their own personal pages so, be sure to look them up and get your butts out there to see them live as soon as you can.  All in all it was a spectacular evening and I heard the event raised more than anticipated to help Morgan in her fight against this disease.
