Top Tweets of the Week – Week of February 27th

10. I wish that there was a compilation CD of moments like @JimmyWayne performing this song. I want to hear what they sound like before being put through the ringer!  “I just found the 1st song I wrote & 1st recording of it. Its like looking @ embarrassing yet priceless pics.1992”

9. It surprises me how generous people in the country music community are.  Newcomer @MeganJamesMN (check her out at meganjames.com) spent some time at the hospital this week: “My time at vandy children’s hospital today was spent singing @brandonheath songs with a 7 yr old boy. It’s amazing the hope music can bring.”

8. This was a long week for a lot of people in Nashville including @MartinaMcBride.  After tour all the time it makes sense that she just wants to relax when at home! “So NOT motivated today. To do anything. But I did make a big pot of gumbo. So my house smells good. Have the windows open. Happy.”

7. I love country Christmas albums and this year @JoeyAndRory will be releasing one!  To get in the spirit they have decked out the studio!  “in the studio finishing up our Christmas album… It’s so good. Gonna come out in about 9 months!”

6. Your parents liking the same thing you do is completely uncool! @DannyGokey experienced that this week: “Just got off the phone w/my dad & during our conversation he mentioned that he was going to “Twitter” something. Twitter is no longer cool”

5. @BradPaisley’s whole life is a roller coaster ride and this week song radio execs (and a few bloggers) were invited on that ride. “Welcome to CRS people. Please keep hands&feet inside the ride at all times. If pregnant or w/serious heart condition you should not go to…”

4. The extremely talented duo @SugarlandMusic began the next leg of their Incredible Machine Tour this week! Follow them to see some amazing #Sugarpics every night! “Here’s our dynamic duo back in action… #sugarpics

3. Newcomers @Jonesville (also known as Jason Jones) recently followed in Blake’s footsteps and released a 6-pak (which is amazing).  He then saw Blake at a party and this happened: “@blakeshelton hugged me tonight, and I was drunk two minutes later. Weird.”

2. @BrettEldredge doesn’t do drugs – he just needs an energy drink to go crazy! “Thought I was drinking regular tea but it was an energy drink..I could say the alphabet 100 times in a row in probably 10 seconds right now”

1. A certain actor has gone a little crazy and believes he is winning at life, but I would agree that @BlakeShelton (and about anyone else) is beating him! “Hey Charlie Sheen… I just played the Grand Ole @opry! Now who’s #winning boy?!!!”

NOW That’s What I Call Faith – New Music Weekend

I have three or four CD’s in my car (not ALL of them are Rascal Flatts!) that start skipping as soon as I put them in my CD player. I have completely worn them out from over playing and I’m sure a lot of you guys have the same problem. So, if you’re looking for some newer music that’s upbeat and inspiring, then check out “NOW That’s What I Call Faith.” I promise that you will NOT be disappointed. This is the” first ever faith-based compilation” from the same folks who have brought you the “NOW That’s What I Call Music” series for many years; and as they usually do, they’ve hit the mark with this one.

When I first got the CD, I had mixed expectations, even though I listen to a good variety of music ranging from contemporary Christian to country to rock. Seeing artists who have definitely carved their place in mainstream music like The Fray, Daughtry, and Carrie Underwood alongside top Christian acts such as Third Day, tobyMac, and BarlowGirl on the same track listing doesn’t happen very often, if ever. That’s part of what makes this CD so great though. Even if you don’t consider yourself a fan of faith-based music, there is something for every listener on this CD. You might surprise yourself and find out that you’re open to more music than you thought!

My favorites on the CD are “Tonight” by tobyMac, “Call My Name” by Third Day, and “Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe. Also, I think that listing “Home” by Daughtry as the final track on the CD was definitely the right decision. It ties the tracks together well and is a fitting end to a compilation aimed at bridging musical genres and maintaining a positive message. No matter which is your favorite out of the sixteen songs, after listening to this CD, you can’t help but feel a little more upbeat, yet also a little more peaceful at the same time. “NOW That’s What I Call Faith” has a great mix of both uptempo and slower paced tracks and really does have something for everyone. One of your favorite artists might draw your attention to this compilation but the entire set deserves a listen!

Track Listing includes:

“You Found Me” by The Fray
“Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood
“Call My Name” by Third Day
“Tonight” by tobyMac
“Live Life Loud” by Hawk Nelson
“Pocketful Of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield
“Free To Be Me” by Francesca Battistelli
“One Step at a Time” by Jordin Sparks
“God In Me” by Mary Mary
“Higher Than This” by Ledisi
“Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath
“Our Worlds Collide” by BarlowGirl
“Closer to Love” by Matt Kearney
“Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe
“Always” by Switchfoot
“Home” by Daughtry
