Montgomery Gentry Celebrates Billboard Top 10!

Montgomery Gentry on The Price is Right

Montgomery Gentry‘s “Where I Come From” reaches Top 10 on the Billboard Country Chart. This is the first Top 10 for the duo on their new label home, Average Joes Entertainment, and a first for the powerhouse indie label.

“This is a huge milestone for everyone at Average Joes. We are so proud of working with Montgomery Gentry and happy to take this amazing single into the Top 10,” says Average Joes Entertainment President Tom Baldrica. “‘Where I Come From’ is reminiscent to Eddie and T-Roys’s earlier hits and we are happy to have brought them back to the country audience as front-runners of this great genre.”

“Where I Come From,” written by Rodney Clawson and Dallas Davidson, is the first single off their seventh studio album, Rebels On The Run, released October 2011 and the first album released on Average Joes Entertainment. Breaking down musical barriers with hits songs like “My Town,” “Something To Be Proud Of,” and anthems like “Hell Yea” and “My Town,” Montgomery Gentry are well on their way to adding yet another staple song in their career.

In support of their recent nomination the duo stopped by The Price is Right to tape a special episode dedicated to the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The show features an appearance and performance from the duo and will air on March 30th.

Taylor Swift Made the BIG Bucks!

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift
tops Billboard’s list of Top Music Money Makers of 2012 with a whopping $35,719,902. Taylor beat out Adele, Justin Bieber, and several other country hopefuls for the top spot. Where did these numbers come from? Well, it appears Billboard takes the matter very seriously. To see the specifics click here.

To provide a consistent snapshot of the top Money Makers’ earnings power, we focused exclusively on U.S. income sources, ranking artists based upon how much each of them earned in 2011 from a variety of income streams, including touring, recorded-music sales, publishing royalties and payments from an array of digital services. Our calculations were based on each artist’s U.S. net earnings, not gross revenue. Due to a lack of sufficient data, our figures do not include revenue from sponsorships, merchandise sales or synchronization deals.

Other country artists making the list are Kenny Chensey who came in 3rd with $29,837,103, Jason Aldean who made $13,409,011 and came in 9th, along with Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, and Sugarland.

Steve Martin‘s music video for his song “Me and Paul Revere” premiered yesterday on RollingStone.com. Filmed in an industrial loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in front of a select group of fans, the video captures an intimate and special performance by Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers. The song is already making waves in Massachusetts with the Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight currently voting on passing a bill that will make Martin’s “Me and Paul Revere” the state’s official Revolutionary War song.

Martin was originally inspired to write and record the song after reading David Hackett Fischer’s book, Paul Revere’s Ride and in anticipation of his performance on PBS’ broadcast of A Capitol Fourth this past summer. In his own unique twist, Martin crafted the song to tell a wonderful story about the historical ride from the perspective of Revere’s horse.

Martin also celebrates the release of his new book today The Ten, Make That Nine, Habits of Very Organized People. Make That Ten. A New York Times bestselling author and Twitter phenomenon, Martin has gathered his best tweets in a laugh-out-loud collection and will appear on Good Morning America and Tavis Smiley on February 22nd in support of the book. With more than 1.5 million followers (a number growing by the day) and a now famously uncanny ability to pack 140 characters with a maximum amount of humor and wit, Steve Martin has redefined what it means to be a celebrity in today’s world of social media.

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers are currently on tour in support of their #1 bluegrass release, Rare Bird Alert, which most recently received a Grammy® nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.
