Tim McGraw Signs with Big Machine Records

Tim Mcgraw & scott borchetta

Just moments ago during a press conference at The Country Music Hall of Fame, Tim McGraw announced he has signed with mega-label Big Machine Records. Tim’s long-standing feud with former label, Curb has brought him to a new home.

Many people know that I came to Nashville 23 years ago on a Greyhound bus with nothing but a guitar,”  says Tim. “And 23 years to the day, on May 9th, I went back to the bus station & officially signed this deal. It was a significant way for me to mark this new beginning. … Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling about working on a new album for this next chapter in my career.”

Headed by Scott Borchetta, Big Machine Label Group is home for Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Taylor Swift, and Martina McBride.

Big Machine & Republic Nashville Have a Special Announcement to Make on Monday….

Big Machine has been full of surprises lately.  With the recent surprise addition of super group Rascal Flatts you wouldn’t think another big announcement would come so soon. BUT…on Monday (Nov. 8) afternoon they have another special announcement to unveil.

Wanna know what I think…. You may remember back in Septemer 2009 we told you about rumors circulating in Music Row that Martina McBride was going to be leaving her RCA record label.

Martina squahed the rumors via her Twitter account

via @cmtt   @martinamcbride We keep hearing rumors that you are leaving RCA. We want to put the rumors to rest. Is everything ok? We love you!

via @martinamcbride  @cmtt I don’t know where you heard that, but everything is fine (as far as I know! )

Looks like the little birdies on Music Row may have been right….just a little early on letting the cat out of the bag.

We will keep you updated on Monday afternoon about the big announcement.  What do you think?  Could another big superstar be added to the Big Machine label?

HUGE Announcement from Big Machine Records!!!!! Rascal Flatts Added to Their Label

Rascal Flatts Nothing Like This Album Cover

This morning Big Machine records held a press conference in Nashville to announce some BIG NEWS!

Rascal Flatts will be joining their record label!

Rascal Flatts with Scott Borchetta

Scott Borchetta says, “Rascal Flatts are the biggest band in Country Music and we’re honored and thrilled to have them join the Big Machine Records family. While they are celebrating their first ten years together I selfishly can’t wait to start on their next ten years. They have made a fantastic new album and they are completely energized and ready to take on not only the US but also the rest of the world. Why wait?”

“We are extremely excited about our new partnership with Big Machine Records!,” says Jay DeMarcus, bassist and background vocalist for Rascal Flatts. “We believe that Scott Borchetta and all of the folks over there are a perfect fit for what Rascal Flatts is trying to accomplish over the next few years. The last 10 years have been amazing but we are even more excited about the next phase of our career; Scott understands us, he knows what we’re about and it’s always a wonderful thing to have someone who believes in you and your music that much in your corner.”

Flatts fans have something else to be excited about! Their brand new single “Why Wait” is out TODAY!  Their brand new album “Nothing Like This” is due in stores November 16th (just in time for an early Christmas present).

A BIG THANKS to my little Tattle Tale friend who was lucky enough to be at the press conference this morning and sent along the picture of Rascal Flatts with Scott Borchetta.

Music City Keep on Playin Benefit Raises $1.7 MILLION!!

Sunday night the stars were shining bright at the Ryman Auditorium downtown Nashville, and I’m not talking about the twinklin night sky.  Brad Paisley headlined the star-studded event with some help from Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Kellie Pickler, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, Lady Antebellum, and more.  Brad’s better-half, Kimberly Williams Paisley and Desperate Housewive’s Plumber, James Denton, hosted the sold-out event.

Obviously the Ryman is known for it’s stellar acoustics, but the performances of the night really were at another level.  Lady Antebellum performed a sad and sultry, and probably the most beautiful arrangement I’ve ever heard of, “Need You Now.”  Martina belted-out awe-inspiring “Anyway” and a tear-jerking “Over the Rainbow,”  and Brad Paisley kicked-off, what really turned-out to be a celebration of Tennessee’s heart and volunteerism with “Welcome to the Future”.

Dierks Bentley performed some very scaled-back version’s of “Heart Shaped Locket” and “You Hold Me Together”.  While Keith Urban performed “Help” and “Better Life” bringing the crowd to their feet with applause.

Even though the evening was peppered with the devastating images of the flood from 2 weeks ago, it really was more of a celebration.  It was because of the hard-ship and loss that was suffered, that people were able to really see the love and compassion Middle Tennesseans have when banding together to help our neighbors.

Backstage, we were able to talk to some of the artists first-hand about the benefit and the loss the city of Nashville and the state of Tennessee has suffered.  Through the tales of loss were also tales of heroism.  But each had an underlying theme of a new beginning and pride to be part of something so great.  Yes…great.  Tennesseans handled the disaster with such grace, the flood literally wasn’t newsworthy.  Chaos and crime makes the news.  But, there was to luting…only neighbors helping neighbors.  Make sure to check back to CMTT later for our press conference interviews during the show.

In true telethon style, many of the artists who appeared lent their voices to the phone lines to take peoples generous gifts.  Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman stepped from stage to phone.  Keillie Pickler spent a majority of her evening on the phone.  Sheryl Crow, Josh Thompson, James Otto, Dierks Bentley, and many more also took phone calls.  People donated their hard-earned money and prayers to flood victims.

Not just the common-folk donated…corporations big and small opened their wallets to help Nashville.  Scott Borchetta and Big Machine records donated $100,000, Humana, Comcast, and even the Academy of Country Music handed-over giant checks to help bring the grand total to over $1.7 MILLION.

The entire night was awe-inspiring, and made us here at CMTT proud to say “We Are Nashville.”  You can view all of our pictures from the evening on our Flickr page:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/countrymusictattletale/sets/
