LeAnn Rimes to Perform for Barbra Streisand

LeAnn Rimes among many others will pay tribute to Barbra Streisand during the The 2011 MusiCares Person of the Year gala which will be held during Grammy week. Barbra is being honored for her exceptional artistic achievements as well as her philanthropic work. Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute — now in its 21st year — provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.

Other performers include Tony Bennett, Seal, Donna Summer, BeBe Winans, and Stevie Wonder, plus many more. The event rounds-out Grammy Awards week. The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 13th on CBS.

“We Are The World” Remake Includes Big Country Music Names

Just like 25 years ago, when musicians came together for the original “We Are the World,” country stars are in the mix this time, too.

Here are the singers with country ties who took part in the new recording last night: Miley Cyrus, Sugarland, Zac Brown, Julianne Hough and Jeff Bridges. Jeff Bridges has been singing country because of the movie, “Crazy Heart.” They joined dozens of others like Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye West, Tony Bennett and Jennifer Hudson.

The original included Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kenny Rogers, which was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. That first recording raised millions of dollars for famine relief in Africa. Money raised from this new recording is to help the people of Haiti.
