Miranda Lambert and Ashton Kutcher Play Nice at the Derby – Photo of the Day

Miranda Lambert

Looks like the feud between Miranda Lambert and Ashton Kutcher has been squashed.  Miranda tweeted this picture of her and Ashton hugging it out at the Derby’s Barnstable Brown party Friday evening.

via @Miranda_Lambert:  @aplusk here it is y’all. He is sweet and lives country music! For real!:) and he likes randaritas!”

This was the first time the two have a chance to meet in person after Kutcher’s appearance at the ACM Awards where he was decked out in a cowboy hat and western wear. He presented Lambert with the top female vocalist award. Afterward Miranda tweeted, “Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me?” Kutcher replied that he’s “one of the biggest country music fans” and “wasn’t making fun at all.”

Now if we can just get Miranda and Eric Church to hug it out…..

Miranda Lambert vs. Ashton Kutcher Round 2

Miranda Lambert

The stage is set for a possible show-down. Ashton Kutcher and Miranda Lambert are expected to attend the same pre-Kentucky Derby party on May 4th.

It will be the first time the two have a chance to meet in person after Kutcher’s appearance at the ACM Awards where he was decked out in a cowboy hat and western wear. He presented Lambert with the top female vocalist award. Afterward Miranda tweeted, “Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me?” Kutcher replied that he’s “one of the biggest country music fans” and “wasn’t making fun at all.”

Stay tuned.  I’m excited to see this brawl.  I see Miranda prevailing.

The Justin Moore vs. Ashton Kutcher Feud Continues

Justin Moore

Just over a week after the twitter feud began at the ACM’s, controversy continues between country music’s hit maker Justin Moore and Hollywood heavy-weight Ashton Kutcher. Sparks first ignited when Kutcher appeared at the Academy of Country Music Awards held on April 1, donning over-the-top Western garb while performing a less than stellar rendition of George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart.” Moore took to twitter immediately after the awards to question Kutcher’s motives and claimed that he was making a mockery of the genre. Soon, other country giants chimed in to show their support of Moore, including Miranda Lambert.

Press caught wind of the feud and news of it spread to Us Weekly, People, The Washington Post, and The Tennessean. Moore opened up in an exclusive interview with Fox News where he called Kutcher’s appearance “distasteful” and then went on to invite him out to a show in hopes to patch things up. Moore added, “if he’s as big a country music fan as he says he is, maybe he’ll do that.”

This prompted Ashton Kutcher to respond to Justin Moore via twitter: “I grew up idolizing the style of Highway Men, Hank, Merle, Patsy Cline, Dolly. Starting to wonder if new country just doesn’t get it. Justin Moore calls it mocking I call it respecting your Elders. Maybe that’s old fashion. Know when to fold em brother…”

While fans and press have swaying opinions on the matter, the country music community has clearly shown their support for Moore. WUBE Cincinnati’s Chris Carr proclaimed: “There are times to bite a tongue, but I’m glad that Justin didn’t.” Stoney Richards of WDSY Pittsburgh said, “Give Justin my best and tell him we stand by him…God Bless the boys who make the noise…on 16th avenue.”

Official statement from Justin Moore:
“I stand by what I said about Ashton Kutcher’s appearance at the ACM’s. I don’t know him, he may be a nice guy, but I felt like he insulted a lot of us who live and breathe country music and the lifestyle. I’d be happy to sit down with him at some point and see just how much he knows about country music, he said he’s a big fan. It’s just my opinion and everyone’s entitled to one.”

ACM Awards, A Week Later Country Fans Are Still Spouting Off

Well, as the saying goes…”You can’t make everyone happy.” Boy oh boy, if that ain’t the truth. The ACM Awards weren’t quite a week ago, and people are still talking about them. Ashton Kutcher’s cowboy getup and his George Strait impression are still lighting fires under people almost as much as Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore taking to Twitter to voice their distaste in the skit. Fans are still fuming over some of the winners and losers, and I’m still trying to ice my hands from tweeting all the info.

So let’s just take it from the top shall we? The ACM Awards, let’s face it…it’s not really about the awards. I mean, it is sorta. There are winners after all, but the show itself is really one giant advertisement for CBS; thus the out of place presenters feigning country music fandom. In Ashton Kutcher’s defense, I highly doubt he was like, “Dude, sign me up to present at the ACM Awards cuz I totally have nothing better to do.” Instead, I’m sure some clever writer thought this bit would be laugh your socks off hysterical, and they just needed someone willing to do it… Enter Ashton Kutcher, star of the CBS show “Two and a Half Men.”

Let’s not act like people weren’t making fun of everyone and their brother all night long. I get it, it’s a little less insulting when fellow country folk make fun of fellow country folk…but c’mon already. I think if the bit would’ve gone a tad further, it would have been obviously funny. Instead, it missed the mark and just left people scratching their heads. Insulting, I don’t think so. If anything, the only person who really lost out was Ashton, since that cowboy hat did nothing for his shnoz.

Well, regardless of the intentions, Miranda and Justin felt the need to say something. Some of us are just more confrontational than others I guess. And some of us are just more easily offended than others as well. But, I would think the brunt of the anger should be channeled to the writer who though the idea was good enough to put on television.

While reading comments around the World Wide Web regarding this matter, I was very impressed by people’s abilities to interweave subject matter. Of course people were upset Ashton was there because “he’s not country.” But, can anyone guess where this lead? I’ll give a hint…It starts with a “T” and ends with “aylor”. That’s right…DING DING DING!!!

Here are some comments I found, but I’ve removed the names to protect the identity of the perpetrators.

He is not country.!!By the way,on that point of not country, why did Taylor Swift win ??? Why is SHE there???SHE IS NOT any more country than Ashton!!!!

Yes Why oh Why is Swift wining …..Don’t like her voice, and now even more think that she is not country!!!!! She justs talks through her songs….maybe pop music, but not country….I wouldn’t go across the street to see her…

couldn’t agree more Taylor Swift is a pop singer she shouldn’t be winning all these country awards

Oh…but wait…all you Taylor lovers…are you ready?? They are about to drag another country blond bombshell under the bus….

the whole show was a joke – Kiss? Really? There were way too many performances that weren’t country, especially Carrie’s opening – what the heck was that? So if they are gonna criticize him – better look at the rest of the show!

So, let’s talk about the winners, the losers, and the thoughts. Or rather, I’ll talk and y’all can comment later…Deal?

Let’s begin with how much I disagree on any award being fan voted. The CMT Awards are fan voted, but then again; it’s the entire show. And, I watch all videos, so at least I feel semi-qualified to vote. However, no one really knows who has a better show, who’s album is better, who’s more talented. I mean, is there anyone out there that has actually seen ALL of the nominees live?? Oh wait…I have. I have seen every person nominated live….Even the ones I don’t like. And if you asked me to put them in order of best show to worst show (which I’m aware you didn’t but just go with it) I would say #1 Taylor Swift, #2 Jason Aldean, #3 Brad Paisley, #4 Blake Shelton, #5 Kenny Chesney….(Keith Urban would’ve gotten the #2 spot had he been nominated, but he wasn’t so poo on them).

I’m not basing it on whether I think the music is country or not because let’s face it; it doesn’t matter. My opinion of the actual music these folks put out doesn’t matter. Country radio is playing it, you find it in the country department online and in WalMart, and these fine folks qualify for these awards because obviously people are buying their albums and concert tickets. But, what it really comes down to, is…”Was I entertained??”

People can bash Taylor to the moon and back…She’s not country, she can’t sing, she needs to act her age…blah blah blah. If we go by sheer numbers, she kicks everyones’ butts up and down the block a few thousand times over. The list of country singers who would be given the time of day on any one of today’s singing competition tv shows is extremely short simply because most aren’t fabulous singers.  And if Taylor acted like Miranda Lambert people would be bashing her for not being a good role model for her audience…And let’s face it…if we defined country in “old school terms,” Lady A, Carrie, Keith Urban, and Rascal Flatts would all still be street performers on lower Broadway hoping for change.  The fact is, all of these folks are different.  Each may not be your cup of tea…Some like cream and sugar, while others prefer unsweetened and robust.

The bottom line is…nobody is ever gonna make everybody happy. You’re country music fans…but not fans of all country music. Fans are gonna vote for their favorites over and over again regardless of their knowledge of the other nominees. Heck, most fans will vote for their favorite artist even if they think their latest album stunk…

I vote we all try to see each others point of views instead of having knife throwing lessons at each others backs. Or as my momma use to say, “Can’t we all just get along?” I just look at her and say, “Life’s not fair, you can’t make everybody happy.”
