Keith Urban & Jennifer Lopez Duet in the Works?

Not yet, but I think Jennifer Lopez is now considering it. In a recent interview with PopCrush, JLO admitted to being a huge country music fan, and now that she’s working with fellow “American Idol” judge Keith Urban, they may end up making beautiful music together.

I’m a BIG country music fan. I love country music. I would say, you know, besides hip-hop, country music is one of my favorite genres. I love it. I love the storytelling in country music. I love the lyrics. I don’t know… we haven’t talked about doing a country song together, but we’ve talked about performing together. Harry and I have talked about doing maybe an original Christmas song together. You know, different things. But I don’t know, maybe we should! Maybe that would be a good idea.

It worked for Blake Shelton and Shakira and then again with Christina Aguilera…You never know…Maybe a little ‘Jenny from the Block meets Where the Blacktop Ends.’

Idol Vs. Voice What the Numbers Say

The Voice continues to rise — while the nation seems to be over its “Idol”-atry.

NBC’s “The Voice” returned last week to capture 16 million viewers on its February 24 debut. It drew 13 million the following night. Meanwhile, Fox’s “Idol” continues to fade. Neither of the show’s two episodes last week cracked Nielsen’s Top 10 list — or reached the 11-million viewer mark.

American Idol Has Another Phone Voting Mix-Up

American Idol

You want pepperoni with that? It was a question that a lot of people looking to vote for their “American Idol” favorites could have heard, instead of getting the chance to pick a singer.

The Peninsula Daily News in Port Angeles, Washington says somehow calls got routed to Gordy’s Pizza & Pasta for two hours last Wednesday night. Usually, such mix-ups can be explained when the numbers are similar — but that wasn’t the case this time. Restaurant owner Randy Sexton says his staff endured what he calls “a frenzy of ring, ring, ring, ring, ring” — and answered every one, expecting it was a potential customer.

He hopes the problem can be fixed before this week’s episode. A spokeswoman for “Idol” says efforts are being made to take care of the issue.

Clay Aiken Files For Congressional Run

Former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken has made it official: he’s running for Congress. He has officially filed the paperwork to seek office in North Carolina. Aiken, a Democrat, says he wants to help end the gridlock in Washington and that no single political party has all the answers.

Aiken is seeking the 2nd District seat now held by Republican Renee Ellmers. The district is GOP-leaning — and Aiken may have trouble winning in part because he’s openly gay, but he says he doesn’t think that will be a factor in the general election.

“I am comfortable with myself. I am comfortable with the campaign we’re running,” Aiken said. “I am positive that people are going to vote for the person who they think will do the best job, who they think can win in November.”

Aiken’s campaign has raised more than $100,000 so far, while his Republican rival has $260,000 in the bank.  The Democratic primary is less than 10 weeks away.
