Taylor, Carrie, & Jake Make EW’s 30 Greatest Artists of Right Now!

Taylor Swift Live In PerthCarrie UnderwoodJake Owen

Entertainment Weekly has released it’s 30 Greatest Music Artists Right Now, and country music has made an appearance, although I’m a tad surprised.

Right behind No. 1 Adele is our own Taylor Swift at No. 2 as the Everygirl Superstar. Taylor is feverishly working on a new album.

Carrie Underwood nabs 4th place as the Country Belle. Carrie has enjoyed some down time with hubby Mike Fisher, but her new album Blown Away will hit stores soon.

”I got to take a little more time making this album and I feel like I’m really ready for it to be out there,” she tells EW. ”It’s like the beginning of a relationship — everything is new and exciting.”

The real shocker, Jake Owen is named Nashville Casanova at No. 19. Although, he may not be Casanova any longer since he popped the question to Lacey Buchanon and the two will be hitched. Jake has spent the last several years on the road, and will take to the stadiums this year with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney on the Brothers of the Sun tour.

”I’ve spent the last six years playing anywhere and everywhere,” he tells EW. ”And I’m going to continue appreciating each day I can grab a guitar and sing.”

You can see the entire list here which includes the Foo Fighters, Katy Perry, and more.  I’m shocked that Lady Antebellum or Kenny Chesney didn’t make the list…anyone else??

Amos Lee to Release iTunes Exclusive and Performs for Jimmy Kimmel in August

Amos Lee will release an exclusive eight-song iTunes collection, entitled Live From SoHo, on August 16th. A pre-order for the album launed on July 26th, with Lee’s Triple a No. 1 “Windows Are Rolled Down” available instantly upon purchase.

The release — recorded at New York City’s Apple Store Soho on February 22nd, 2011, and featuring Lee backed by his touring band — includes four songs from Lee’s current album Mission Bell (“Windows Are Rolled Down,” “El Camino,” “Violin,” and “Cup of Sorrow”), as well as live renditions of tracks from Lee’s 2006 album Supply and Demand (“Night Train”) and his 2005 self-titled debut (“Arms of A Woman”). In addition, the collection includes two live covers: Ween’s “Buenos Tardes Amigo” and Neil Young’s “Are You Ready For The Country.”

In other news, Lee will perform his latest single, “Flower” — which is currently ascending the Triple A radio chart, and whose beautiful animated video has just been added to VH1′s playlist — on Live! With Jimmy Kimmel on August 18th.

In addition, on August 9th, Yahoo! Music will feature Lee as part of its Maximum Performance series with five tracks of unseen live footage that can be viewed at http://music.yahoo.com/. Lee’s his first single, “Windows Are Rolled Down,” which has spent 34 consecutive weeks on the BDS Triple A Chart, peaking at No. 1 on May 2nd, has been nominated by radio programmers for the 2011 “Triple A Song Of The Year” at the FMQB Triple A Conference in August.

In August, Lee will embark on a series of dates featuring special guests Calexico (who perform on Mission Bell), including a show at the Orpheum in Los Angeles on August 20th.  Lee will also perform at the LL Bean Festival on July 30th, the Newport Folk Festival on July 31st (which will be broadcast live on NPR.org), and with My Morning Jacket at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 4th.

In September, Lee travels to the UK for a month of sold-out dates with British songstress Adele, who hand-selected Lee to perform with her on this extensive tour of her native land. As an added bonus, Civil Wars has just been added as the opener for an amazing triple bill. For more information, please visit www.amoslee.com.
