BMI Tailgate Party Brings Even More Music to CMA Fest

BMI will help make downtown Nashville’s beloved celebration of all things Country Music even bigger with the introduction of the BMI Tailgate Partyat 2012 CMA Music Festival, Thursday through Sunday, June 7-10, beginning at 4:30 PM. Located right off the Cumberland River outside LP Field, the new stage will feature a strong selection of BMI’s songwriters and artists warming up the audience before they enter LP Field for the Nightly Concerts.

The BMI Tailgate Party is free and open to the public. A limited amount of parking will be available at LP Field each night for $15 cash-only on a first come, first serve basis.

Brent Cobb, Florida Georgia Line, Hogslop String Band, Kristen Kelly, Chuck Mead and His Grassy Knoll Boys, Chancie Neal, the Peach Pickers (Rhett Akins and Dallas Davidson), Mo Pitney, Trent Summar and the New Row Mob, Kenny Vaughan, and the World Famous Headliners (Big Al Anderson, Shawn Camp, and Pat McLaughlin) will all perform on the BMI Tailgate Party stage.

For fans who want to attend the Nightly Concerts at LP Field after the BMI Tailgate Party, tickets are still available. Fans are advised to purchase tickets in advance, as LP Field has sold out the last two years. Tickets to the individual Nightly Concerts are $40 (plus applicable handling fees) for general admission in the upper deck of LP Field. Fans can purchase their tickets through Ticketmaster at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1 (800) 745-3000. They can also purchase them through CMAfest.com or by calling 1 (800) CMA-FEST (262-3378). Little Big Town Announce 6th Annual Ride for a Cure

Little Big Town is back to host the 2012 Ride For a Cure Sunday, June 10th with proceeds benefitting the T.J. Martell Foundation. This will be the group’s 6th consecutive year hosting the ride.

The event will stay true to form with the exception of a new starting location for registration and the pre-ride Jam Session that will be Mickey Roo’s (509 Hillsboro Road, Franklin, TN 37069) in the Kroger Independence Square parking lot on Hillsboro Pike (see below link and QR code for specific directions). Registration begins at 8am.

At this pre-ride location guests and riders can expect performances by Cali Rodi and others on the welcome stage and then will depart at 10:30am for the Harley-Davidson Columbia Superstore.

Post-ride festivities will begin at 12pm and include a lunch hosted by Applebee’s, an All-Star Jam Session with performances by Lauren Alaina, Dean Alexander, Love and Theft and Little Big Town as well as a live auction for all attendees.

To date over $260,000 has been raised for the T.J. Martell Foundation since the beginning of Ride For a Cure. There have been over 2,500 motorcycle riders to participate in the ride, and an additional 2,000 people have joined us over the last three years at the Harley-Davidson Columbia Superstore for the post-ride All Star Jam concert. Past performers and supporters include Martina McBride, Jamey Johnson, The Band Perry and Luke Bryan among others.

Taylor Swift to the Rescue…Again

When it comes to taking care of her fans, I’m not sure anyone does it better than Taylor Swift. From prom date requests from ill fans to funny video antics, Taylor pays attention. Well, to no surprise Taylor is at it again.

Last September, a mother and daughter Summer, ventured out to Taylor’s Sacramento Speak Now tour stop for a night of girls fun. Unfortunately, a drunk driver stopped them in their tracks, and put them on a very long path to recovery.

I could see him passed out at the wheel, coming closer and hitting us,” said Summer. “It was really scary.”

Officer Lowry was impressed by Summer’s strength through the ordeal, and her inability to stop smiling. He decided to try to contact Taylor which proved to be harder than he thought. So, he reached out to CBS 13 (Taylor’s lucky no….coincidence, I don’t think so). The news station used their powers to help out.

Taylor people contacted them and are sending Summer and her mother to the next Sacramento show along with some swag.

Josh Kelley and Katherine Heigl Give New Child a Family Name

Josh Kelley and his wife Katherine Heigl are the proud parents to two adopted girls. According to People.com, Josh and Katherine named their second daughter Adalaide Marie Hope.

“Her full name is Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley — Adalaide because of my great-grandmother, Marie after my middle name, and Hope because that is what the process became, said Katherine.

The baby girl was adopted from here in the US, unlike her 3 1/2 old sister Naleigh, who was adopted from Korea.

Katherine, who who doesn’t cry easily, shed tears of joy.

I’m not gonna lie, this was one of those moments where you can’t help but be overcome with emotion. There were some tears and (a) lot of giddiness and joy.”

Congrats to the happy couple!!

Darryl Worley is Tired of Defending His Opinions

Darryl Worley’s new single “You Still Got It” is a bit less serious than some of his past hits like “I Miss My Friend” and “Have You Forgotten,” and that’s by design.

“The cool thing for me is, it doesn’t have any polarizing political messages,” the singer said in a new interview with Examiner.com. “It’s lighter than I normally do, it has a real summertime feel. It sort of makes you want to go shagging on the boulevard.”

“You Still Got It” is the first single from an upcoming album titled One Time Around. Worley said he avoided any overt political statements with the album; his last major radio release, “Keep the Change,” encountered resistance after some radio programmers felt it attacked President Obama.

“At the end of the day that’s not my job, to decide whether that song should or should not be played on the radio,” he asserted. “My job is to make good music that everybody loves.

“I just want to enjoy this while it lasts, and I want it to be fun for myself and for other people,” Worley added. “I’m tired of defending some opinion I might have. This [new project] is fun, and I can already tell the difference in not having such a heavy subject matter. So I think I made the right decision.”

Worley is enthusiastic about the new album, his first under a new deal with Tenacity Records/Crazytown Records. “It’s just a heavy duty project,” he stated. “There’s never been another time when I could say that everything on this album could be a single, and I’m saying it now.”

Lady Antebellum Head to Prom Tonight to Help Henryville Tornado Victims

Lady Antebellum announced in March that tornado ravaged Henryville High School would be the recipients of a private concert from their OWN THE NIGHT Prom Contest. The group is inviting the school’s Juniors and Seniors to the KFC YUM! Center on May 16 for a private prom event followed by a post-party concert that will be open to the public. All proceeds raised from the concert portion of Rebuilding Henryville will remain local through the New Hope/Indiana Bankers Association for the benefit of the Disaster Relief Fund.

“The whole community, especially the students, is excited about Lady Antebellum coming and performing for Henryville,” said Superintendent of the West Clark Community Schools Monty Schneider. “They missed so much with the school being destroyed that things like this help them feel whole again. They will be talking about the tornadoes for the rest of their lives, but this event will give them something positive to reflect on about that time. It’s going to be a special moment for the entire community.”

“Helping rebuild this community is our biggest priority right now,” said Lady A’s Hillary Scott. “We were so moved by the stories from Henryville High School, but also from the students at their rival schools who raised their hands and said they wanted to help. There has been so much national media attention and so many sponsors and volunteers are stepping forward to help. It’s going to be an amazing day!”
