“The 2012 Christmas 4 Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament Presented By: PREVOST was a hit for everyone involved,” said Debbie Lamberson. “We raised over $32,000 that will help local children experience the gift of giving this Christmas. I am truly excited to see the look on every one of the children’s faces this December as they shop for their friends and family.”

CMTT Exclusive: 10 Quick Quirky Questions with The Roys

The Roys

Bluegrass music is a unique art form that is as much about feel and instinct as it is technique. Blending proficiency and passion into a musically intoxicating package, The Roys make their debut with Lonesome Whistle, a spirited set that showcases the siblings’ stellar vocals, taut musicianship and enviable songwriting skills.

“My first real love is bluegrass music,” says Lee. “When I was nine-years-old, I played in my first band and it was a bluegrass band. Ricky Skaggs has always been my hero, and even back in the early days of the Skaggs and Rice records; that’s really where I cut my teeth. As a matter of fact, we were listening to some old stuff we had done and it was amazing to hear Keith Whitley in my voice back then when I was a kid because I was really into those guys.”

With their reverence for legends such as Bill Monroe as well as contemporary torch bearers like Ricky Skaggs, Elaine and Lee have crafted a debut set that combines the best of bluegrass music’s traditions with the promise of its future.

The Roys Join Ronnie Milsap, Randy Travis and more for PBS Special

The Roys, recently taped a PBS Special celebrating the music of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Lee and Elaine Roy joined Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap and numerous other stars for the event, which raised the rafters of the Loveless Barn outside of Nashville last week. Check out great behind-the-scenes footage and hear the music of Charles “Pa” Ingalls at MTSU Helps Revive Great Old American Music with “Pa’s Fiddle” Project.

The PBS Special, “Pa’s Fiddle: America’s Music,” is the brain-child of Dr. Dale Cockrell, director of MTSU’s Center for Popular Music and scholar of the songs embedded in the “Little House on the Prairie” books. He was joined by MTSU professors and students who worked behind the scenes to capture video for the documentary, titled “Inside Pa’s Fiddle.”

MTSU is playing a key role in keeping the old-time fiddle music alive for future generations. Some of the more popular songs were featured in a recorded PBS pledge-drive special that will begin a two-year broadcast run in June.
