Kid Rock

Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Music City’s legendary honky-tonk, celebrated their 51st Birthday in downtown Nashville last week with the help from Kid Rock, The Kentucky Headhunters, The McClymonts, and The Roys. The party started at noon on November 23rd, with performances running into 1:30 am on Thanksgiving Day.

“It’s cool to be celebrating their birthday party with them; I like parties and seem to excel in that type of atmosphere,” commented Kid Rock on the event.

Tootsie’s is known to have been used as a “green room” to some of the greatest Opry stars including Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb.

“Tootsies is where the stars would come to wet their whistles and pick their guitars,” says Tootsie’s owner Steve Smith.

“Two years ago, we celebrated with Kris Kristofferson, Terri Clark, Randy Houser and Mel Tillis. This year, we celebrated with Kid Rock. The Tootsie’s Birthday Bash is becoming an annual event and who knows what we will plan for 2012!,” adds Smith.

Catch-Up with The McClymonts on Billboard.com

As Aussie sister-trio, The McClymonts, continue their U.S. album promotion, writer Chuck Dauphin takes a deeper look into their efforts in a feature for Billboard.com . In the article, Dauphin covers the girls’ journey from being on top in Australia to their current U.S. climb and the differences in marketing themselves in both locations.

With the August U.S. release of Wrapped Up Good, The McClymonts have been going non-stop with touring and a national media campaign. Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed as on November 7th, CMA Chairman of the Board, Steve Moore, presented them with the 2011 CMA Global Artist of the Year Award. They also had the great honor of making their Grand Ole Opry debut September 9 and were immediately invited back to play September 30. Esteemed country writer Chuck Dauphin, or as Phil Sweetland put it in The New York Times “the Cameron Crowe of Country music,” also took notice and selected The McClymonts for a Billboard.com feature. Dauphin recently caught up with the girls and explored their aggressive marketing and viral marketing campaign, the differences between the U.S. and overseas, and their recent CMA award.

The McClymonts have received the 2011 CMA Global Country Artist Award. The Australian sisters – Brooke, Samantha, and Mollie McClymont – were presented with the honor during the annual CMA International Reception held on November 7th as part of festivities around “The 45th Annual CMA Awards.” The Award was presented by CMA Chief Executive Officer Steve Moore.

“Wow, after five months of living here in Nashville, to have picked up the CMA Global Country Artist Award is an absolute honor,” said Brooke McClymont, speaking for herself and her sisters.

The Global Country Artist Award recognizes outstanding achievements by a Country Music artist originally signed outside of the United States – in both furthering the popularity of Country Music and bringing attention to the Country Music format in their foreign based territory.
