Rodney Atkins Is Calling On You to Help!

rodneyatkins

In the wake of the recent storms to hit the southeast, country star Rodney Atkins is teaming up with WRIL-The Big 106 and Massey Ferguson to raise money for disaster relief for a few of the hardest hit communities – Harrogate, TN, West Liberty, KY, and East Bernstadt, KY. Like so many other towns across the U.S., Atkins’ hometown of Harrogate had tornados rip through the town leveling homes and causing mass destruction on Friday, March 2. Atkins joins WRIL in an all-day radio drive today to encourage listeners to donate what they can to help those affected begin to pull their lives back together.

“The news of the devastating tornadoes that ripped through Tennessee and Kentucky have destroyed lives and left a lot of folks without hope. So please help raise money for those in need and I will join my friends at Massey Ferguson Tractors for a special fundraiser on WRIL 106.3 FM in Pineville, KY. Anyone can find out more on how to help at my official website: www.RodneyAtkins.com.”

Atkins and Massey Ferguson have both offered to match donations made today up to $15,000 in an attempt to raise as much as possible to help those in need. To contribute to the relief fund, please visit Rodney Atkins’ official site.

Rodney Atkins Takes the High-Road in Personal Life and Thanks Fans for Good Thoughts

Rodney Adkins recently talked with our long time buddy Broadway at KISS Country Mornings and took a minute to give his fans a BIG thank you for all of the prayers and good thoughts through his recent personal and legal battles with his soon-to-be-ex-wife.

In November 2011 Rodney was arrested, then later released of all charges, for domestic abuse. According to court documents filed Rodney’s wife, Tammy Jo, called the police on the morning of Nov. 21, alleging a drunk night of fighting resulted in Rodney attempting to smother her with a pillow. She also claimed her husband grabbed her by the face and threw her down a hallway in front of their 10-year-old son, Elijah. Rodney was subsequently arrested, and released on $2,500 bail.

In February 2012 the courts ruled that Rodney would not be prosecuted on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge if he continues to meet court-ordered conditions.

Basically, as long as he stays out of trouble for the next 11 months and completes 30 hours of community service, the charge will be retired. Rodney didn’t admit to any guilt and passed court ordered anger management, and drug and alcohol evaluations.
