A drummer for Ricky Skaggs was found dead in the band’s tour bus Monday before a planned performance at Clemson University. Thomas Roady was 62. The coroner says he died in his sleep from heart problems. She says he also had cancer but that was not why he died.

Scaggs’ band had been pulling into a hotel parking lot in Clemson, South Carolina, before a show at the university after driving through the night from Nashville. Roady and Skaggs were on separate buses. Skaggs and the band’s remaining members went on to perform Monday night at the college. This was the first stop on Skaggs’ Christmas tour.
