Marty Stuart Announces Late Night Jam Line-Up

Marty Stuart will host a special 10th Anniversary Late Night Jam on June 8yh beginning at 10:00 PM at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Country music icons Dolly Parton, Mel Tillis and Connie Smith, along with The Quebe Sisters Band, Doug Kershaw and more surprise guests will be joining Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives for this year’s event. The Late Night Jam has become the unofficial kick-off of the CMA Music Festival and prior to any lineup information being released, tickets for this year’s event have sold faster than ever before. Proceeds will benefit MusiCares with a portion also going to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“It’s hard to believe that the Late Night Jam is ten years old,” said Stuart. “I can’t help but think back on the first one. I was nervous; pacing and hoping that we’d have enough people show up. The show ended up being a sell-out and we’ve been going strong ever since. That first show was over 25,000 people ago, and it was also many good deeds ago from MusiCares, and a lot of really magical performances ago from some of my dearest musical friends. Every year I say, ‘How can I top that show?’ Somehow it happens and good things result from it. This year will be no different.”

Over the past 10 years, Stuart has brought artists such as Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Porter Wagoner, Neko Case, Old Crow Medicine Show, Jerry Lee Lewis and more to the Ryman stage for a one of a kind marathon jam session all in the name of charity and country music.

Marty Stuart Announces 10th Annual Late Night Jam

Marty Stuart will celebrate 10 years of his annual Late Night Jam on June 8th beginning at 10:00 PM at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Stuart started the CMA sponsored event as a way to welcome fans to country music’s biggest week, and over the past 10 years it has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for MusiCares and has become the kick off event for CMA Music Fest.

“The Late Night Jam has evolved into the centerpiece concert event for me on my yearly calendar,” said Stuart. “It’s hard to believe that this is the 10th anniversary of the show. Looking back, the guest list has been staggering. Fans come from all over the world to support us and the relationship with NARAS and MusiCares is precious to me. The Late Night Jam has raised a considerable amount of money over the last decade with the mission of helping people in need. MusiCares has done a wonderful job of distributing the funds as they see fit. I know of a number of people who have benefitting from MusiCares and in some instances lives were saved. That’s what it’s all about. I’m looking forward to this year’s event, me and the Superlatives will do our best to add another interesting chapter to the Jam’s ongoing story.”

“Marty’s dedication and support of MusiCares through the Late Night Jam over the past ten years is unprecedented,” said Debbie Carroll, executive director of MusiCares. “His generosity has served as a catalyst to providing aid and support to so many music people in need. We can’t thank Marty enough for his unrelenting care and concern for his fellow musicians.”

Over the past 10 years, artists such as Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Porter Wagoner, Neko Case, Old Crow Medicine Show, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more surprise guests have joined Marty and his Fabulous Superlatives for a marathon of live music. The 2011 line up will be announced in the coming weeks, but tickets will go on sale this Friday, February 11th at 10:00 AM CST through Ticketmaster.

Marty Stuart Documentary In the Works

Marty Stuart in Philadelphia Mississippi – Preview from Sugar Hill Records on Vimeo.

A short form documentary is in the works about American music icon and Renaissance man Marty Stuart. The film shines a light on Stuart’s early life and influences in his hometown of Philadelphia, MS and the role it played in the making of his latest album, Ghost Train (Studio B Sessions). Select songs from the album are featured throughout the documentary short, including some candid stories behind the songs. The project, set to premiere in early 2011, is titled “Marty Stuart In Philadelphia, MS,” and was helmed by Jacob Hatley, who directed the critically acclaimed “Ain’t In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm.”

“The piece focuses on how music and location work together or how places often inspire and influence artists,” explains Hatley. “Marty’s sound comes from a very specific region, and it was a real privilege to be able to go down to Mississippi and get to know the people who shaped him as an artist.”

You can see a clip of the documentary above.
