The Stagecoach Festival Hits California this Weekend

Busloads of top country stars and thousands of fans are coming to the California desert near Palm Springs this weekend for the Stagecoach Festival.

Kenny Chesney closes out the evening tonight.  Saturday’s other performers include Darius Rucker, Kris Kristofferson, Mel Tillis, Chris Young, Rodney Crowell and more. On Sunday night, Rascal Flatts and k.d. lang close out the festival on different stages. Carrie Underwood also performs. So do Leon Russell, Josh Turner, Easton Corbin, the Gatlin Brothers, Jack Ingram, Ricky Scaggs and lots more.

Kris Kristofferson Added to Stagecoach Festival Lineup

Kris Kristofferson is the final performer to join the line-up for this year’s Stagecoach; he’ll fill the slot originally held by country music legend Loretta Lynn. Earlier this week, Lynn canceled the next few weeks of her 2011 tour based on her ongoing recuperation from recent knee surgery. Kristofferson–who performed at the inaugural Stagecoach in 2007–will kick off his upcoming tour with this performance.

Set times for this year’s Stagecoach–Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st at the beautiful Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA–will be announced next week.

Kris Kristofferson to Receive Nashville Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award

Kris Kristofferson will be awarded with the Nashville Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award. The festival takes place on April 14th-21st at the Green Hills Regal Cinema. Kris Kristofferson is a Country Music Hall of Fame member turned actor. He’ll be presented with the award just prior to the showing of Bloodworth in which he portrays a disgruntled and estranged father and musician returning to his family after 40 years of absence. He is expected to arrive on the Red Carpet by 7:00 p.m.

Also expected to attend is Chely Wright. The newly engaged singer will walk the red carpet around 4:30 on Friday, April 15th for an early screening of her documentary, Wish Me Away. The film follows Chely’s life leading up to and after coming-out as gay. Chely is newly engaged.
