Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, & Kris Kristofferson to Pay Tribute to Bob Dylan

Sugarland, Kris Kristofferson and Dierks Bentley will represent country on a Bob Dylan tribute album that will hit stores on January 24th. Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International and will feature four discs of Bob Dylan tunes sung by artists including Adele, Maroon 5, Elvis Costello and more!

Sugarland will perform “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You (Live)” while Dierks will sing his version of “Senor (Tales of Yankee Power) (Live)” and Kris will sing “Quinn The Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn).” You can see the entire track-listing here.

Tonight Is Country Night At The White House

The White House goes country later today as a part of a special concert that tops off a day of student workshops about the history and cultural significance of country music. The performers include Lauren Alaina, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Darius Rucker and James Taylor. The concert will stream live from the White House website, www.whitehouse.gov/live starting at 7 tonight, Eastern time.  It will also air Wednesday on PBS.

The Stagecoach Festival Hits California this Weekend

Busloads of top country stars and thousands of fans are coming to the California desert near Palm Springs this weekend for the Stagecoach Festival.

Kenny Chesney closes out the evening tonight.  Saturday’s other performers include Darius Rucker, Kris Kristofferson, Mel Tillis, Chris Young, Rodney Crowell and more. On Sunday night, Rascal Flatts and k.d. lang close out the festival on different stages. Carrie Underwood also performs. So do Leon Russell, Josh Turner, Easton Corbin, the Gatlin Brothers, Jack Ingram, Ricky Scaggs and lots more.

Kris Kristofferson Added to Stagecoach Festival Lineup

Kris Kristofferson is the final performer to join the line-up for this year’s Stagecoach; he’ll fill the slot originally held by country music legend Loretta Lynn. Earlier this week, Lynn canceled the next few weeks of her 2011 tour based on her ongoing recuperation from recent knee surgery. Kristofferson–who performed at the inaugural Stagecoach in 2007–will kick off his upcoming tour with this performance.

Set times for this year’s Stagecoach–Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st at the beautiful Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA–will be announced next week.
