Keith Urban Becomes the Newest Grand Ole Opry Member- Video

Last night, Keith Urban became the newest member of the historic Grand Ole Opry. Josh Turner and Trace Adkins helped welcome Keith into the circle. Keith was truly humbled and touched by the moment as he promised to honor country music’s past and fully dedicate himself to it’s future.

Prior to the actual induction, the Opry held a press conference and Keith was able to mount his name plate on the legendary wall with a knife Marty Stuart gave him, and I’m sure he celebrated well into the night with a very special cake and very special friends as a brand new member of a very special family.

Keith-Urban

Keith Urban’s “We’re All For The Hall” benefit concert has paid off.  He raised $465,000 for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. In three years, the event has donated a total of approximately $1.5 million to the Hall of Fame Museum.

Nearly 14,000 fans attended this year’s event. Artists including Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Merle Haggard, The Band Perry and others performed. Urban thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart. He said in a statement that the continued support for the event “truly validates the importance of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and its place at the epicenter of country music.”

Keith Urban’s New Album Explores New Perspective on Rehab

Keith Urban

Keith Urban is busy flying back and forth between LA and Australia while working on the down under version of “The Voice.” While in LA, Keith has been writing for his new album. He has said that he has a lot to write about, and it’s definitely going to be more personal. But according to Country Vibe News, Keith will be exploring some of his darker days from rehab.

“I know when I got out of treatment there was a lot of people saying, ‘Well you didn’t really address what happened.’ I came out and made Defying Gravity and it had “I Want to Kiss A Girl” and “Sweet Thing” and none of these songs that really addressed what happened in there and what happened before it.” He says the reason his first album after treatment didn’t really address what happened was because, “At the time the truth of it was I’d spent three months in treatment, and the kind of treatment where that stuff was being exorcised daily in tons of written work, tons of counseling, tons of therapeutic type environments. So by the time I got out three months later, I felt incredibly clear of so much of that. And so from an artistic standpoint, all of those things ended up in all of these recovery manuscripts, if you will. They didn’t come into the record. I wasn’t interested in them at that point. I was interested in what pulled me through. And that for me at the time was love.”

“For some reason I’ve started writing recently and these things are now starting to now come into the songs. It’s five and a half years later. So for whatever reason they’re just coming through a little bit more now. And I want to explore some of those now. I think it’s been long enough to have a particular perspective on it as well, where again it’s not conscious, the songs are just starting to touch upon some of these things.”

The family will be spending a lot of time in LA in the upcoming months. It’s just easier to fly the family of four straight back and forth without adding an additional flight to Nashville.
