Josh Gracin Set to Rock Camp Casey Fest in Ferndale

Camp Casey Fest is set to rock downtown Ferndale on Saturday, October 15, 2011, with 12 hours of live music capped off by a headlining performance by Josh Gracin.

Other acts scheduled to appear include Annabelle Road, John Maison, Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys and more. More than just a music festival, Camp Casey Fest will feature a chili cook-off, awesome arts and crafts vendors, great grub from local restaurants and big screen TVs broadcasting the U of M vs. MSU football game.

Tickets are only $10 if purchased in advance ($15 at the door after 5 pm); kids 10 and under free with a ticketed adult. 100% of ticket sales benefit Camp Casey, a horseback riding program for kids with cancer in Michigan.

“We enjoyed great success with our chili cook-off last year and are really taking it to a whole new level this October,” said Molly Reeser, Camp Casey founder and executive director. “Not only have we added great retail and food vendors to the mix, but bringing in Josh Gracin to headline the event makes this the biggest and most exciting fundraiser we’ve ever had.”

“It’s always in honor to do anything that benefits charity,” said Gracin, who is originally from Westland, Michigan. “I’m excited to be taking part in this event that helps Camp Casey.”

Camp Casey Fest kicks off at 11 a.m. on East Nine Mile at Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, Michigan. The chili cook-off and art fair portion of the event conclude at 5 p.m. An official after-party is being hosted by Rosie O’Grady’s in Ferndale starting at 11 p.m. Presenting sponsors of Camp Casey Fest include McDonald’s, Panera Bread, Rosie O’Grady’s and blugray creative.

Josh Gracin’s New Video for “Can’t Say Goodbye”

We have been telling you about the Sears Heroes at Home “Portraits of Heroes” song contest with Josh Gracin and we are excited to show you the finshed music video. Get your kleenex ready because it’s a tear jerker.

In case you are unfamiliar with the story read below:

Committed to keeping her husband’s memory alive, Seana Arrechaga of Clarksville, TN, shared how she met and married her best friend and his ongoing dedication to service as part of a national song contest to recognize military heroes. It was this personal tribute that stood out to country musician and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Josh Gracin, who named Seana the winner and will bring her memories to life through music.

“No matter what he was doing, he dedicated 100 percent to getting it done, even in the last few hours of his life. He was too stubborn to let go because he had too much to live for. That right there is what makes him my hero.”

“In the 1305 days I had him, he showed me how to live with no regrets and how to love with no limits. He taught me that you have to fight for what’s right when no one else will especially when it comes to your family.”

As part of the Sears Heroes at Home “Portraits of Heroes” song contest, Josh wrote and recorded a song based on Seana’s winning story. The two personally met in Nashville to record the song, which Josh revealed at the “Rockin’ for the Troops” concert in Wheaton, Ill., on July 16.

Sears is still accepting donatations to its Heroes at Home program in store or online at sears.com/heroesathome now through July 31. Donations will support the rehabilitation of homes for veterans and military families across the country.
