Josh Gracin Is Back And Better Than Ever With His New Album Redemption

Josh Gracin- Redemption

Michigan native and American Idol alum Josh Gracin has released his 3rd studio album, “Redemption.” Josh, who has known some success in his post Idol days, is back and showing fans he has stepped up his game. The overall album has a pop/country sound with some incredible ballads. This is Josh’s first album with his new label home Average Joe’s Entertainment and Josh was very much hands on in the creation of this project. He wrote or co wrote every song except for “Edge of Desire” which is an incredible cover of a John Mayer song.

Josh, one of the first American Idol country stars, shows many sides of himself in this new venture. This 16-song album definitely made way for Josh to cover a lot of ground. Between ballads, up-tempos, and just pure soulful sounding tracks this album is Josh’s best work to date. One really original song on the album, “Only When It Rains” is sung as a duet with Shelagh Brown. Josh went an unconventional route in choosing her as his singing partner. Instead of chasing after a Nashville insider Josh held a contest and the winner got to sing on “Redemption.” This seems only fitting since his success came as the result of a contest as well.

Another standout track is one that was co-wrote with a former American Idol contestant, Ruben Studdard. “Catastrophe” is hands down my favorite song on the entire album. From the first note it completely draws you in. It has a great piano intro and somewhat of a bluesy feel. Josh’s vocals soar on this song as he belts out the lyrics making you believe every word. “I Want To Make You Cry” is another one that hooks you from the get go. It has a really unique sound to it that seems to suit Josh’s voice just perfectly. The first track on the album is “Different Kind Of Crazy.” This song has a good beat that would get you on your feet and dancing at a concert. The single you may have already heard off this album is “Cover Girl.” This is another enjoyable tune that will leave you singing along. “Over Me” is a powerful ballad that shows Josh can really sing the heck out of a song. It is about a former girlfriend that moved on. Again, the conviction in Josh’s voice has you believing this just happened to him yesterday.

This album has a little something for everyone. Some songs exemplify Josh’s country sound and other songs show his many layers as an artist. In my opinion “Redemption” has brought Josh to a new level in this business. It has shown he is honing his craft as a talented songwriter and is a vocalist to be reckoned with. This album reminded me of how great a song can be when the artist puts so much emotion in their work it is undoubtedly felt by the listener…us country fans! If you are not already a Josh Gracin fan “Redemption” just may change your mind.

Redemption is available now in stores and on ITunes

WYCD’s Downtown Hoedown Is BIGGER & BETTER

Downtown HOedown

An enhanced new concert experience awaits Detroit’s devoted country music fans at the 30th annual 99.5 WYCD Downtown Hoedown, presented by Ram Truck Brand, Arby’s and Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. 99.5 WYCD officially announced this year’s superstar-stocked lineup, led by four-time, 2011 ACM winner, Miranda Lambert, along with Dierks Bentley, The Farm, JT Hodges, Craig Campbell, Jana Kramer, and MORE this morning on The All New Dr. Don Morning Show and simultaneously on www.wycd.com. The highly anticipated, weekend-long event will move to a new location for the first time in 30 years, the secure, expansive grounds surrounding Comerica Park, and will be held on June 8-10, 2012.

“The 30th anniversary of the WYCD Downtown Hoedown marks a tremendous milestone for this iconic Detroit event and offers an ideal opportunity to enrich the overall experience for attendees,” said Debbie Kenyon, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of CBS Radio Detroit. “We had outgrown our previous riverfront location but remained 100 percent committed to keeping the WYCD Downtown Hoedown in the city of Detroit. We can provide the best of everything on the user-friendly grounds surrounding Comerica Park. People feel it’s very safe and truly enjoy attending sporting events and concerts there. The layout also allows for much larger and more elaborate staging and better visibility for fans to enjoy the performers. Attendees will also have easier access to concessions; cleaner, more plentiful restroom facilities; and opportunities to take a break in the shade of the Comerica Park concourse.”
