Tune in for a A Countryfied New Year’s Eve – DVR Alert

New Years Eve

It’s a New Year’s Eve party from New York, all right — with a bit of a twang.

Fox will air a year-end bash with the likes of Toby Keith and Joe Nichols as the musical headliners — rather than being the sidemen for the more pop-oriented shows on other networks tonight. “American Country New Year’s Eve Live” will be hosted by comedian Rodney Carrington and “Pawn Stars” Rick Harrison and Austin “Chumlee” Russell. The show will run 90 minutes — wrapping around the Times Square ball drop at midnight — and will also feature inserts from Las Vegas.

Another Fox show will also feature country stars as the clock winds down toward 2012. On Fox News Channel, Trace Adkins and Big and Rich will be on the bill.

Joe Nichols, who recently released his eighth studio album, has added his name to the growing list of artists and celebrities speaking out in support of freedom of expression.

As part of the 1 for All campaign, Nichols will participate in “Free to Tweet,” a daylong online celebration of First Amendment rights on Dec. 15, Bill of Rights Day. During the tweetathon, all Americans are encouraged to tweet their support of the First Amendment and how they enjoy those freedoms—using the hashtag #FreeToTweet.

High school and college students nationwide are eligible to win one of 22 $5,000 scholarships by tweeting creatively about the First Amendment. More information is at FreeToTweet.org.

The unprecedented 1 for All campaign is the largest of its kind in scope and reach, and uses a fresh approach by featuring public figures celebrating their freedoms to tweet, rock, write, read, sing, worship, assemble, petition and much more.

Ellen DeGeneres, John Mellencamp, Ke$ha, and David Gregory were among the first wave of performers, artists and journalists to show their support for the First Amendment by appearing in the ads.
