Are Willie Nelson & Jessica Simpson Making an Album Together?

Talk about an eclectic group of people coming together for an album.

Life & Style has revealed that Jessica Simpson is teaming up with some heavy hitters for her upcoming Christmas album.

She’s recording with Willie Nelson and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.    Jessica will also sing a duet with a U.S. soldier in Afganistan on the album.

Country Music May Not Have Seen the Last of Jessica Simpson

According to Nashville Gab the highly accredited National Enquirer says that Dolly Parton may have a hand in helping Jessica Simpson out with her next country record.

After Jessica’s debut country CD tanked, Dolly personally offered to bankroll Jess’ second country album on her label, Dolly Records, sources say.

“Dolly sees a lot of herself in Jessica. Her personal life has been the focal point of unwanted attention, and like Jessica, she’s had to battle her own doubts and demons,” a friend divulged.

“But Dolly is a pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps kind of gal, and she’s tried to instill some of that in Jessica.”

Back in 2003, Jessica’s pop album “In this Skin” sold a whopping 5 million copies…. [she] tried to recapture that glory by courting a country crowd, but her CD “Do You Know” sold fewer than 200,000 copies, and her record label Sony Nashville dumped her…

Despite all [of Jessica's problems performing] Dolly was quick to defend her.

“I think every entertainer’s had nights when things go wrong,” the 63-year-old music legend declared on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”

“But I know that Jessica is a good girl. She’s beautiful to me. I’ve never been around a person any sweeter in my life.”

Dolly has come to Jessica’s defense many times in the past and I suppose if this story is true we probably have not heard the last from her. Personally I think she should step out of the stoplight for a bit of time. Get herself together. The girl can sell pop albums – I just wonder if she has killed her reputation too much to have any kind of come back at all – in any genre.

Jessica Simpson at it Again

I know that I really should not be blogging about Jessica Simpson any longer since she was dropped by her country music label but I just couldn’t resist.

She took to her Twitter page tonight and posted this picture with the caption

Just overcame my fear of sharks by kissing a killer whale

Now I am not a marine biologist but the last time I checked a whale and a shark were two completely different animals.

Billy Ray Cyrus – “Back to Tennessee”

With all of the craziness of Jessica Simpson being dumped from her label and hackers getting into the CMTT website I left a few things unsaid yesterday.

Billy Ray Cyrus’ new album Back to Tennessee hit stores yesterday. It includes 12 new songs and features a duet with Miley.

You can listen to the entire album. So check it out and let us know what you think.

Thanks to one of our readers for the comment:

liddy says:

She’s OFFICIALLY not with Columbia Nashville. This from OK…”

ANOTHER UPDATE: US Magazine has everything figured out:

The singer, 28, is no longer with the Sony Nashville label, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.  The singer’s rep tells Us, “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album.”

Simpson, who has released pop albums on the Epic label, “is and has always been an Epic artist,” her rep adds. “She continues to be on Epic’s label.”

The Boot makes some great points:

However, Simpson said in numerous interviews last year that her crossover to country was indeed permanent. She even said that if Epic would not support her release of a second country album, she’d take matters into her own hands.

“Then I’m going to pay for it myself,” she told Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper. “I’m not giving up, and I’m going to make country music … It’s a spiritual thing for me, like I know God has a plan and a purpose.”

Simpson’s first and only country album, ‘Do You Know,’ debuted at No. 1 on the country charts but has sold only around 170,000 copies since its release last September.
