Rhonda Vincent’s Award-Winning Cornbread

Rhonda Vincent

Rhonda Vincent can now add another accolade to her mantel, she’s been named the Celebrity Cornbread Cookoff winner! Last week, the “Queen of Bluegrass” celebrated her tenth year of performing and participant at the National Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburg, TN. Her recipe “Rhonda’s Ragin’ Cornbread” took home the blue ribbon this year and she was happy to share the win with a worth cause.

“It’s always an honor to represent Martha White and especially exciting to win the celebrity cook-off at the National Cornbread Festival,” Rhonda told AOL’s The Boot last week. “The proceeds go to the Marion County Children’s Fund, which assists foster and underprivileged children in Marion County, TN, so it’s always very special to participate in this event!”

More than $4,500 was raised this year for the Marion County Children’s fund. Rhonda also won a television set during an auction and donated it to a nearby family in Rutherford County who lost their home to a fire.

Ed Helms To Record Bluegrass Album

lonesometrio

Andy from “The Office” isn’t just playing music on his lunch break anymore. Ed Helms tells The Hollywood Reporter that he is working on recording his first full-length album with his bluegrass band, the Lonesome Trio. He says they have been playing together for so long, they have tons of original tunes. But until now, they’ve only made recordings for friends and family. Now they’re in the studio to record “a proper album.”

Skylar Laine Ready for Nashville

Skylar Laine

American Idol’s current country cutie was ousted from the show on Thursday. But, she went out with a BANG! performing Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder and Lead.” It seams Skylar feels most comfortable channeling her inner Miranda Lambert, and it’s no doubt we’ll be seeing her here in Music City very soon. According to USA Today, Skylar is ready to call Nashville home.

“That’s where I want to be,” she says. “I love Nashville. Mississippi’s my home, but Nashville’s second home, definitely.”

Skylar is already comfortable in Nashville, having made several trips to the city to co-write with other songwriters including “Jesus Take the Wheel” writer Hillary Lindsey.

Skylar has made a name for herself on the famous star-making show, but she’s ready for the next chapter of her life to begin. On Idol, Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine praised Skylar’s ability, but she says they didn’t have a chance to talk much about plans for her beyond the show.

“He just said he thought I was going to have a really long career, and I hope that’s true,” she says. “I really want to be singing country music for the rest of my life.”

We’ll see YOU, Skylar Laine, here in Nashville sometime soon! I have no doubt!

Rose Falcon Has a Fan in High Places…

Rose Falcon

You’ve probably never heard of Jon Bon Jovi’s favorite new country artist, but he’s betting you will. The hard rockin’ singer calls newcomer Rose Falcon “an old soul in the voice of a beautiful woman” on his Facebook. The connection? Bon Jovi and Rose’s father Billy are friends. The elder Falcon has songwriting credits on several Bon Jovi albums. “Rose Falcon has been at this for a long time,” Jon writes. “She’s earned this shot … Take a listen. You won’t be disappointed.” Rose is signed to Toby Keith’s record label Show Dog-Universal, and her new EP 19th Avenue is out now.
