Billy Ray Cyrus Admits GQ Interview was a “Big Mistake”

Last night Piers Morgan sat down with Billy Ray Cyrus to talk about his new music, his family and more. Earlier this year Cyrus gave a controversial interview to GQ about the trials and tribulations of fame. By speaking his true feelings on how fame negatively affected his family, in particular Miley, he received subsequent backlash in both his personal and professional life.

Cyrus expressed his regret in giving the statements saying,

“I made a big mistake even giving that interview. It was the darkest time of my life. Dark. It was dark. Turbulent, and that would have been a real good time for me to probably go and sit by the fire alone.”

What do you think? Was Billy Ray wrong to express how he felt fame had affected his family in an interview?

Billy Ray Cyrus Drawn from Soldiers Experience for Upcoming Album

It was a soldier’s reaction to the sound of bombs that was the inspiration for Billy Ray Cyrus to record his new album called “I’m American.”

Cyrus says he was on a USO tour in 2009 and “during a performance in Afghanistan on ‘some Gave All’ when some bombs went off in the background, a young soldier stood up and said, ‘Keep going Mr. Cyrus. We’re used to it.”‘ Cyrus says at that moment, he knew had to go back and re-record “Some Gave All,” using that as the foundation of an album “based solely on taking my hat off and saluting our troops.”

The eight track release “I’m American” will be available this Tuesday.
