Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Josh Thompson and More Help Raise Money for ACM Lifting Lives

During the past three months, club shows around the country have collectively raised more than $36,000 for ACM Lifting Lives®, the charitable arm of the Academy of Country Music. Shows featuring Josh Abbott, Wade Bowen, Kristian Bush, Tyler Farr, Kyle Park, Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Josh Thompson, Randy Rogers Band and The Swon Brothers donated a portion of ticket sales to ACM Lifting Lives, which will go to help fund organizations that are improving lives through the power of music.

Clubs included Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX, Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, TX, Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta, GA, Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte, NC, Denim & Diamonds in Mesa, AZ and Wichita Falls, TX, Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, OH, Joe’s Bar in Chicago, IL and Rockin Rodeo in Midland, TX.

“We are so thankful to have the support of the venues and country music artists who participated in this effort and provided nights of great live music to benefit ACM Lifting Lives,” said Ed Warm, ACM board member and co-owner of Joe’s Bar in Chicago, who played a part in helping to develop the fundraiser.

“As we look toward the future, the board set a goal this year to grow ACM Lifting Lives as a recognizable name and to promote what we do as an organization on a national level,” said ACM Lifting Lives Manager Hannah Martin. “We couldn’t be more proud of the success of these club benefit shows and with the continued support of club owners and artists across the country we are hopeful that this will be an annual initiative to spread our mission for years to come!”

As part of the initiative, fans who attended were encouraged to take a photo of their ticket and tweet it tagging @ACMAwards, using #ACMLiftingLivesBenefit. One lucky fan won a trip to the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV via the Twitter contest.

Reckless Kelly Announces 2014 Softball Jam Lineup

On Sunday, May 11 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX, an all-star group of country music celebrities and professional athletes will square off for Reckless Kelly’s 2014 Celebrity Softball Jam – nine innings of fun-filled, athleticism-optional softball followed by a postgame concert on two stages in centerfield.

Artists confirmed so far for this year’s concert include Reckless Kelly, Roger Creager, Turnpike Troubadours, Wade Bowen, Cody Canada and The Departed, Charlie Robison, Micky and the Motorcars, and Uncle Lucius, with more major acts to be announced soon.

Proceeds from the event will go towards an ambitious renovation project for East Austin’s Mabson Field, including the installation of an artificial turf playing surface. A youth baseball/softball field located in the heart of one of the most under-resourced neighborhoods in Austin, Mabson Field serves boys & girls ages 4 -12 through MLB’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program (RBI) and the Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA). The $270,000 project will be completed by spring 2014.

Led by brothers Willy and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly, the Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam was created as a way for the band to bring together their friends from the worlds of music and sports to benefit Austin’s youth. In five years, the event has raised over $150,000.

“The Celebrity Softball Jam has been a huge success since the first event, and is something we and our friends look forward to every year,” says Cody Braun. “It’s a great feeling knowing that we are helping to provide some much needed support for these programs. With the Mabson Field project, we’ve been able to make a major transformation that will be something the kids in that neighborhood can use for years to come. It will be a home field that they can be proud of.”

The event is a blast everyone involved, artists and fans alike. Having performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in more than a dozen Major League ballparks, Reckless Kelly are enthusiastic fans of MLB and the Round Rock Express.

“My favorite part is walking into Dell Diamond early in the morning before the event starts, and for ten seconds, feeling like I am there to play baseball,” says Cody. And don’t be surprised if you see some serious skills on display, too, he says. “Andy Langer (of Texas Monthly and KGSR) and Eric Raines (of KOKE-FM) can both hit the ball out of the park! Ray Benson (of Asleep at the Wheel) is one heck of a first baseman and Ann Hudson Andrews (of KVET) is my star center fielder.”

The Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam, created and produced by Reckless Kelly in conjunction with Ryan-Sanders Entertainment, is a registered 501C-3 through the Reckless Kelly Charitable Youth Foundation. Ryan-Sanders Entertainment is a division of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, owner/operator of the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers Triple-A affiliate) and Ryan-Sanders Sports Services. They also operate Dell Diamond.
