5 Quick Holiday Questions with Lee Roy and Elaine of The Roys

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Lee Roy:  Hot Chocolate
Elaine:  Hot chocolate for sure!! Anything chocolate!

What is Your Favorite Holiday Tradition?
Lee Roy:  Getting up on Christmas morning to the smell of moms cooking. Enjoying morning time with the family then gathering in the living room to open gifts. Then it’s time to eat and enjoy Christmas dinner together as a family.

Elaine: We always go to church Christmas Eve and get everything ready for Christmas morning.  The morning is filled with cooking and presents and most of all quality family time.  Catching up with loved ones and making lifetime memories, that is my favorite Holiday tradition.

What was your favorite Christmas present as a child?
Lee Roy:  It was a Hot Wheels racing set.
Elaine:   I got a tape recorder.  It was the first time I could record myself singing.  I thought that was the neatest thing.  To hit play and listen to what I just recorded!

How did you learn the truth about Santa Clause?
Lee Roy:  Well I kinda saw my gifts before Christmas and saw they said from Santa lol
Elaine:   Well if you are asking if I believe in Santa Clause, YES!!!!! (I think my cousin told me lol)

What is Your Favorite Christmas Song?
Lee Roy:  Oh Holy Night. The true meaning of the season!
Elaine:   Oh Holy Night is just a beautifully written song about the true meaning of the season.  Love that song.

The Roys have definitely brought the holidays home with their newest CD, BLUEGRASS KINDA CHRISTMAS (Rural Rhythm Records), available now at Walmart, Amazon and iTunes.  THE ROYS’ much-heralded sibling harmonies, spot-on lead vocals and agile musicianship shine a light on Christmas songs both new and old, creating a festive holiday ambiance that’s apropos for any seasonal celebration.

Recorded during a hot Tennessee summer, BLUEGRASS KINDA CHRISTMAS features Elaine Roy (Guitar), Lee Roy (Mandolin, Mandocello, Mandola), Clint White (Fiddle), Daniel Patrick (Banjo, Dobro), Erik Alvar (Bass), and Josh Swift (Dobro*), and was recorded at THE ROYS’ own studio in Hendersonville.

Lee Roy and Elaine wrapped their 2014 touring season – appropriately – with a performance at the Christmas In The Smokies concert in Pigeon Forge, TN on December 13.

The Roys Release Lyric Video for “No More Lonely”

Brother/sister Bluegrass duo The Roys have released a companion lyric video  to their newest radio single, “No More Lonely.”  Produced by Sammy Passamano, the digital creation intersperses colorful “cue card” stills with teases of breathtaking artwork from the siblings’ upcoming CD, THE VIEW, due in stores in September on Rural Rhythm Records.

“Lyric videos are becoming more and more popular all the time,” Passamano notes.  “They help fans connect with a song’s message while creating an entertaining visual experience that further enhances the music.”

Sammy used Adobe After Effects software to create the piece; his first in this format.  His previous efforts include conceptual and live music videos for THE ROYS, Marty Raybon, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Darrell Webb, Monroeville, Billy Droze and Brand New Strings.

“No More Lonely” was written by Elaine, Lee and Nashville hitmaker Steve Dean; the single is now available for purchase at  iTunes, Amazon, Google Plus, Rhapsody and eMusic.
