Trisha Yearwood, Joe Nichols, The Band Perry Star On “Nashville”

Trisha Yearwood

An upcoming episode of “Nashville” is going to be packed with some of your favorite country music artists!  Trisha Yearwood, Joe Nichols and The Band Perry will star as themselves on the November 19 episode.  The storyline focuses on the Country Music Association Awards.

Yearwood says there are definitely similarities between what she experienced during the filming and the real awards show.

“It’s actually very similar,” she explains. “The only difference is I’m not in a gown and full hair and makeup at 10 o’clock in the morning. But you look at the teleprompter and you rehearse what you’re going to say. If you’re presenting [an award], it’s a pretty easy gig. This is good; it will be good rehearsal for me for the actual CMA Awards in a few weeks.”

Don’t forget to tune into country music’s REAL biggest night TONIGHT!  The 2014 CMA Awards will air tonight on ABC.

The Band Perry Shares Career Experiences with Belmont University Music Students During Special Master Class

the band perry

The Band Perry took time out of their busy touring and recording schedule last week to give a Master Class at Belmont University’s School of Music in Nashville.

With Massey Concert Hall as their backdrop, the sibling trio shared the backstory on how they started in the music industry, which included raising money for sound gear by selling homemade caramel apples door to door and traveling around the southeast to play shopping malls, campsites and restaurants. The band stressed the importance of perseverance, a strong support system, and accepting constructive criticism. They also mentioned the development of stage presence in addition to technical skills.

The reigning ACM “Vocal Group of The Year” shared their strategy on how they grew “from a band to a brand,” encouraging students to find their own voice and focus on what they do best and what makes them unique. They also lent advice on coping with the rigors of breaking into the music business, a challenge very familiar to many of the young performers in the room. At the end of the hour, the band answered questions from the students, and then treated the audience to an impromptu acoustic performance of their quintessential hit, “If I Die Young.”

“It was great to have Kimberly, Reid and Neil speak to our music students,” said Dr. Cynthia Curtis, Dean of The College of Visual and Performing Arts. “Practical advice from professional musicians is an integral part of our students’ education, and we could not have scripted this Master Class any better. The Band Perry offered our students real-life information about what the combination of talent and hard work can bring. Coming from an intelligent, accomplished and relatable act like The Band Perry, this advice was exactly what our students needed to hear as they begin to pursue their own professional careers.”

Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor to Cross Genres at the CMA Awards

Ariana GrandeMeghan Trainor

“The 48th Annual CMA Awards” will present genre-crossing duet performances by Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor who will perform with Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert respectively. “Pretty Little Liars” actress and DMG Nashville recording artist Lucy Hale will be joining the evening as a presenter live, Wednesday, Nov. 5 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the ABC Television Network.

Hosted for the seventh consecutive year by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, Country Music’s Biggest Night™ will also feature superstar performances by Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, Paisley, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry, Underwood, and Keith Urban.

Grande will be joining two-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town for an on-air collaboration. Within less than a year, Grande captured No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 twice—first with her Republic Records debut Yours Truly and also with its 2014 follow-up My Everything.

Trainor will team up with nine-time nominee and reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Lambert. This dynamic duo’s performance of Trainor’s “All About That Bass” is sure to be a must see moment. Singer/songwriter Trainor has written songs for such stars as Rascal Flatts before skyrocketing to success with her international hit “All About That Bass,” which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the past six weeks.

While Hale made her mark early on as an actress, best known for her role on the hit ABC Family drama “Pretty Little Liars,” music was always her first love. The Memphis born and bred singer’s debut album, Road Between, was released by DMG Nashville on June 3 and features her brand new single, “Lie A Little Better.” Hale will also be performing on “CMA Country Christmas,” a two-hour special airing Monday, Dec. 1 (8:00-10:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Winners of “The 48th Annual CMA Awards” will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting members of the Country Music Association. CMA Awards balloting is officiated by the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Voting for the CMA Awards final ballot ends Monday, Oct. 27 (5:00 PM/CT).

“The 48th Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and David Wild is the writer. The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
