Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean & Florida Georgia Line Named CMT’s Artists of the Year

cmt artists of the year

CMT will celebrate an incredible year in the country music industry by honoring Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban as the top country artists of 2014 in an all-new CMT ARTISTS OF THE YEAR, premiering LIVE from Nashville on Tuesday, December 2nd at 8:00 p.m. ET. The 90-minute special will bring together this year’s five honorees and their peers for an evening filled with star-studded performances and celebration, honoring each artist’s successes over the past year.

Urban, a first-time honoree, joins Aldean, Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Lambert, all of whom have been honored in previous years at the annual ceremony. Aldean has been named a CMT ARTIST OF THE YEAR since the award’s inception in 2010.

“Country music has never been bigger, and these five are its biggest stars of 2014,’’ said John Hamlin, SVP Music Events and Talent, CMT. “We do everything we can do to make sure this is the party of the year for them. And rightfully so. They’ve earned it.”

Over the past 12 months, all five honorees have illustrated their impact in country music through massive radio airplay, chart-topping album sales and millions of individual downloads of their current singles. Additionally, these acts have sold out concert tours and, collectively, their videos have received hundreds of millions of streams, earning them the honor of being named one of CMT’s ARTISTS OF THE YEAR.

Past artists named as CMT ARTISTS OF THE YEAR include Aldean, Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Hunter Hayes, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Lambert, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band.

Ariana GrandeMeghan Trainor

“The 48th Annual CMA Awards” will present genre-crossing duet performances by Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor who will perform with Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert respectively. “Pretty Little Liars” actress and DMG Nashville recording artist Lucy Hale will be joining the evening as a presenter live, Wednesday, Nov. 5 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the ABC Television Network.

Hosted for the seventh consecutive year by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, Country Music’s Biggest Night™ will also feature superstar performances by Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, Paisley, Blake Shelton, The Band Perry, Underwood, and Keith Urban.

Grande will be joining two-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town for an on-air collaboration. Within less than a year, Grande captured No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 twice—first with her Republic Records debut Yours Truly and also with its 2014 follow-up My Everything.

Trainor will team up with nine-time nominee and reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Lambert. This dynamic duo’s performance of Trainor’s “All About That Bass” is sure to be a must see moment. Singer/songwriter Trainor has written songs for such stars as Rascal Flatts before skyrocketing to success with her international hit “All About That Bass,” which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the past six weeks.

While Hale made her mark early on as an actress, best known for her role on the hit ABC Family drama “Pretty Little Liars,” music was always her first love. The Memphis born and bred singer’s debut album, Road Between, was released by DMG Nashville on June 3 and features her brand new single, “Lie A Little Better.” Hale will also be performing on “CMA Country Christmas,” a two-hour special airing Monday, Dec. 1 (8:00-10:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Winners of “The 48th Annual CMA Awards” will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting members of the Country Music Association. CMA Awards balloting is officiated by the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Voting for the CMA Awards final ballot ends Monday, Oct. 27 (5:00 PM/CT).

“The 48th Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and David Wild is the writer. The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.

“Country’s Arrival in Vegas” Scores Huge at Route 91 Harvest

Miranda

The inaugural Route 91 Harvest, brought to Vegas by the creators of premier country music festivals Watershed and Faster Horses, in collaboration with MGM Resorts International, took place at MGM Resorts Village this past weekend with over 20,000 in attendance and rave reviews from fans and critics.

The lavish country music festival kicked-off on Friday night with headliner Blake Shelton setting the pace for the high roller weekend with Las Vegas Review Journal heralding the festival as “Country’s arrival in Vegas.”

On Saturday, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert continued the 3-day country music event playing sets “among the most fun and raucous of the fest[ival]”

Jason Aldean

Route 91 Harvest, whose name is taken from the original name of the Las Vegas Boulevard on which it sits, ended Sunday’s festivities with a bang with Jason Aldean closing out the show. “The final artist to take the stage at the festival, Aldean started and ended emphatically, ” said Rolling Stone Country of the last set of the weekend.

Fans also enjoyed the festival in true Vegas- style with the option of luxury private suites providing lounge seating, drinks service and catering as well as viewing decks with multiple platforms giving fans the opportunity to see the stage close up, the site as a whole and great views of the infamous Las Vegas Strip surrounding the festival.

“I honestly didn’t know what to expect when we decided to launch a country festival of this scale in Las Vegas, but this weekend has far surpassed any exceptions I could have had,” said Brian O’Connell, Live Nation President of Country Touring. “I’m beyond thrilled that Sin City has embraced us and our concept with open arms.”
