Jennifer Nettles to Headline 2016 Next Women of Country Tour

CMT and Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Jennifer Nettles will soon rule the road on the “CMT Presents Jennifer Nettles with 2016 Next Women of Country Tour,” it was announced today at an event in Nashville. The sought-after ticket will include Brandy Clark and special guests Lindsay Ell and Tara Thompson for over 30 dates across the USA and Canada starting in January. The tour is an extension of CMT’s Next Women of Country campaign, an effort that seeks to give more attention and airplay to female country artists. Tickets go on sale to general public December 4.* For more information, visit www.JenniferNettles.com.

Nettles has racked up over 22 million in worldwide record sales since exploding onto the music scene in 2004, amassing eight #1 hits and countless accolades and awards. She recently embarked as headliner on the “Playing with Fire Tour” with Brandy Clark and Ryan Kinder. She’s also a vocal supporter of females in the industry.

“I always take any opportunity to champion women in music and throughout society at large,” said Nettles. “I am absolutely energized to headline this year’s ‘CMT Next Women of Country’ tour and celebrate these exciting artists on the precipice of so much greatness.”

“We are honored to have a superstar headline and curate our second ‘Next Women of Country Tour” said Leslie Fram, SVP of Music Strategy and Talent, CMT. “This will be the year for Jennifer Nettles with new music coming out on Big Machine Label Group. Brandy Clark will release her sophomore album on Warner Brothers Records, Lindsay Ell just premiered her new video on CMT for ‘By The Way,’ and newly signed Tara Thompson has already generated huge buzz for her talents to round out a stellar lineup for our 2016 Tour.”

CMT first launched its “Next Women” campaign in 2013 in an effort to emphasize undiscovered female artists in the male-dominated format. The campaign showcases emerging female artists across screens throughout the year, and several alumnae – Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark, Cassadee Pope and Ashley Monroe included – have achieved both commercial and critical acclaim. In 2015, CMT expanded the franchise to include its first-ever female-powered tour featuring Jana Kramer and Kelsea Ballerini.

The “CMT Presents Jennifer Nettles with 2016 Next Women of Country Tour” is scheduled to hit the following cities:

Lindsay Ell Releases “By the Way” Music Video

The music video for Lindsay Ell’s flirty, lemons-to-lemonade break-up anthem “By The Way” premieres exclusively across CMT platforms today.

Directed by Desmond Desmarais, the Stoney Creek Records guitar chanteuse shot the video while on tour, making use of beautiful, sunny landscapes that serve as the perfect juxtaposition to the saucy swan song.

The light-hearted, up-tempo number indeed puts an unconventional spin on the typical break-up song. Cleverly referring to ex-flames as “Mr. Cowboy Boots” and “Mr. Baseball Cap” Ell reminds them just how quickly her heart can rebound, even crediting them for helping her meet Mr. Right (i.e. “Mr. Pick-Up Truck”).

Ell’s new single “By the Way” has charged out of the gate in a huge way. The song debuted as the #1 Most Added Song at U.S. Country Radio and shot into the Top 10 at iTunes Country upon its release. Buy it here: http://geni.us/bytheway

Last month, CMT’s Next Women of Country presented Ell’s 24-hour “Busking on Broadway” event which raised thousands of dollars in tips for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Ell braved torrents of rain and cold temperatures throughout the event brought to Middle Tennessee by Hurricane Joaquin. With her gear wrapped in plastic, her set list destroyed by rain and her feet engulfed in puddles, Ell performed for 24-hours straight on Nashville’s famed Lower Broadway.
