Josh Thompson & Lauren Alaina Debut Drastic New Looks

Josh Thompson and Trace Adkins

It looks like a few country music artists are in the mood for a change. First, Josh Thompson revealed a pony-tail-less look at The Opry, and Lauren Alaina has been sporting drastically dark locks.

Lauren toyed with the idea of going dark last month when she got playful with a black bob wig. But it looks like the look as taken a turn for the more permanent according to her Instagram pics.

Josh Thompson allowed People Country to cut off his signature pony tail in celebration of his new ‘Turn It Up’ album.

Top Country Tweets of the Week – February 2nd

lauren alaina

10. Is @Lauren_Alaina going for a new look with her sophomore album? Well the truth’s out – it was just a wig! “I was feeling a little crazy this morning and this is what came of it. What do ya think? (:”

9. 525,600 minutes in a year, but @LauraBellBundy reserves a chunk of those for bath time “I spend about 40 mins a day in the bathtub…20 in the morning & 20 at night. That’s roughly 14,600 a year! #fridayfacts #cleanfreak

8. It’s game day!  I’m not sure @DarrylWorley’s daughter understand the meaning of the day… “I told my daughter I was watching the Super Bowl tonight. She said she thought bowling on TV was boring.”

Eric Paslay 2

7. There’s no better timing for @EricPaslay’s “Friday Night” to go to #1 with his album being released this week “Thank you to country radio for sending #FridayNight all the way to #1 this week!”

6. @ChaseRiceMusic has decided to stay independent, so there’s going to be no delay in new music! “Pickin songs for the full album coming out sometime this year has begun. My favorite part”

5. It’s a good thing @DierksBentley doesn’t listen to all of his critics – no matter how big (or small) “took the ole banjo outside to pick a little on a rainy but pretty TN morning and a squirrel immediately ran for it’s life. #hurts #personal

Brad Paisley

4. Hat’s had all the talk at the Grammy’s last week – not a cowboy hat, but Pharrell.  Even @BradPaisley got in on the hype “Hat acts. Me & @pharrell – ‘cept his has its own twitter account. Mine is not that savvy.”

3. The Aussie, @KeithUrban, ended a huge tour last night in Music City!  He said this: “NASHVILLE!!! Do you feel what I feel?! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the BEST tour of my life! So happy to be back home! -KU”

2. You may notice that iTunes is missing a major country act.  @BlakeShelton sent this message to Garth to bring him into the 21st century “Dear Garth Brooks… For the love of god and all that’s holy, please get your music on iTunes. PLEASE! It’s 2014!!!! #frustratedfan

Jake Owen

1. Father of the week award goes to……..@JakeOwen! “Best part of having a kid.. Re-living your youth.. Pearl and I playing hide and seek at lunch”

Frankie Ballard

10. It’s 2014, but apparently people still send @FrankieBallard snail mail “Goin’ thru some fan mail…pleasant stuff”

9. @LauraBellBundy was a year ahead (for a few hours) – she sent us this message from the future! “All those in the USA, have a great freaking NYE! Be safe errrybody!  I’m telling you from the Australian future that 2014 is amazing.”

8. For some reason I think it’s a good thing I don’t eat Japanese food…@Lauren_Alaina tweeted: “Just went to a Japanese restaurant and my friend stepped in a mouse trap under the table and it got stuck to his foot. #areyoukiddingme #ew

Kellie Pickler

7. It’s crazy to think @KelliePickler has been married for three years! Here’s how she celebrated: “Brought in the new year & celebrated our 3 yr anniversary yesterday at Blackberry Farms. Note: I have “wine eyes” ;)”

6. It’s vacation season for many artists; @BrettEldredge included “I know good ol TLC said “Don’t go Chasin waterfalls,” but I just chased the hell out of one in the rain forest in Puerto Rico!”

5. With a new single hitting radio, @JayDeMarcus only has a short break before thr Rascal Flatts schedule begins for the year “Vacation, day 3. What am I doing today?? NOTHING. Then, NOTHING again!! ☺️”

4. New Years is a time for reflection – Dave from @LadyAntebellum is reflecting from a few years back “Whoa! Just found this old pic from 2005 when a friend and I opened up for Miranda in college. Warning:…”

2. Welcome to the Future – @BradPaisley Edition! He tweeted: “Wow. 2014. We are one year away from Marty Mcfly arriving. And flying cars. And hover boards. I can’t wait.”

Dierks Bentley

1. With a busy 2014 ahead of him, @DierksBentley is trying to start the year on a healthy note  “antibiotics and steroids no match for this lingering sinus infection…switching to missiles.”

Lauren Alaina Makes Christmas Special for Patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt

Lauren-Alaina-Musicians-On-Call

On Tuesday, Dec. 17th, Lauren Alaina made a surprise visit to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt through one of Musicians On Call’s (MOC) weekly Bedside Performance Programs. To the delight of patients and staff, Alaina spent time with each of the families learning about their own holiday traditions and encouraging them to join her in singing some holiday carols. The Georgia peach brightened spirits with classics including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Clause is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Silent Night.”

“Everyone deserves a smile for the holidays, and smiling isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind when you think of a hospital, but I went there with that goal to make that happen for everyone I met,” shares Alaina. “It wasn’t as easy in some rooms as it was in others, but at the end of the day, I made it happen somehow. I can’t imagine spending my holidays in the hospital. I honestly don’t know if I’d feel like smiling either, but I know it would mean a lot to me to have someone visit. I hope I made a difference.”

Alaina recently released a special recording of “Grown Up Christmas List” with proceeds benefiting The Special Olympics as part of its A Very Special Christmas series. She also performed the song on NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” annual tree lighting special.

MOC Nashville celebrated its sixth anniversary last month with a sold-out concert featuring superstar Kelly Clarkson, who herself made a surprise visit to the Children’s Hospital last winter. Through the kindness and support of artists like Alaina and Clarkson, MOC Nashville has grown to support 13 weekly programs within eight area healthcare facilities. The weekly Bedside Performance Programs operate thanks to the generosity of donors such as the Bonnaroo Works Fund, the CMA Foundation, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and thanks to generous individual donations and “Rock A Patient’s World” sponsors.
