Grand Ole Opry and iHeart Radio Ready Their Rosters to Strike Out Cancer

The Grand Ole Opry and iHeart Radio are readying their rosters as they prepare to strike out cancer at the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game. More than 25 music and sports stars will step up to the plate for this 25th anniversary event, taking place June 13 from the new First Tennessee Park during CMA Music Festival. Country standouts Angie Johnson, Bret Michaels, Bucky Covington, Deana Carter, JT Hodges, Phil Vassar and The Bobby Bones Show, along with Titans cornerback Perrish Cox and current and former Nashville Predators players Seth Jones and Stu Grimson, will play alongside previously announced participants Aaron Watson, Charles Esten, Chuck Wicks, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Little Big Town, Love and Theft, and Vince Gill to strike out cancer with City of Hope. Winning StageIt performers SaraBeth and Doug McCormick will also take to the field for the anniversary event. CMT After Midnite’s Cody Alan and The Crook and Chase Countdown’s Lorianne Crook will emcee and offer play-by-plays for the thousands of fans in attendance.

Joining the lineup is Music City native Stephen Bess, who received lifesaving treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia more than two years ago at City of Hope. He and his genetically matched stem cell donor, who reside nine time zones apart, will meet for the very first time in a special ceremony before taking the field for the 25th Annual Celebrity Softball Game.

A pioneer in the treatment of bone and blood marrow diseases, City of Hope has performed more than 12,000 lifesaving bone marrow transplants. It also is a leading biomedical research institute for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. The City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game, presented by Staples and sponsored by PEOPLE Country, raises funds for that research.

Each year, the Celebrity Softball Game regularly features some of Country Music’s biggest and hottest stars. Over the years, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Scotty McCreery, Vince Gill and many more have taken to the field in support of City of Hope’s lifesaving mission.

City of Hope is an independent biomedical research institution and comprehensive cancer center where scientists and physicians quickly transform scientific discoveries into better treatments and prevention strategies for people around the world. Gary Allan, The Band Perry, Montgomery Gentry, Lauren Alaina & MORE to Play PBR Cowboy Spring Break!

The musical lineup and activities scheduled for the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Cowboy Spring Break May 22-24 will bring Las Vegas a western-lifestyle celebration unlike any it has ever seen and includes Gary Allan, The Band Perry, Lauren Alaina, Montgomery Gentry and MORE!

Monster Energy has joined the PBR and MGM Resorts International in hosting three days of non-stop extreme entertainment. Activities include concerts on both the MGM Resorts Main Stage and the Monster Energy Stage, marketplace shopping, water fun and PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) at the Monster Energy Cowboy Festival at the MGM Resorts Village during PBR Cowboy Spring Break weekend.

Added to the previously announced lineup of Gary Allan and The Band Perry is country music duo Montgomery Gentry. Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry will keep the energy going with their award-winning brand of Southern rock after the Friday night excitement of Round 1 of the PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing. Allan will celebrate the winner of the Last Cowboy Standing after the final rounds of the event on Saturday evening, and The Band Perry will close out the weekend on Sunday.

The weekend’s headlining event is the PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing. Taking place outside at the MGM Resorts Village, this two-day event presents the Top 50 bull riders in the world – the largest field of any PBR event – competing in round after round of intense 8 second battles until one bull rider remains as the cowboy to ride the most bulls consecutively. A total purse of $250,000 is up for grabs, with the winner taking home a guaranteed $180,000, including the $100,000 Bad Boy Mowers Bonus. The competition takes place at 8 p.m. Friday, May 23 and 6 p.m. Saturday, May 24.

As the second of four “PBR Majors” in 2015, the Last Cowboy Standing event will air as a two-hour broadcast on CBS Sunday, May 24th at 1 p.m. ET.

The Monster Energy Cowboy Festival also will have Bikini Bull Riding for the ladies and Topless Bull Riding for the men. Action-sports enthusiasts will enjoy the extreme wakeboarders at the Step Up Rail Jam and everyone will be entertained by the high-flying acrobatics of the premier canine aquatics competition, the Dock Dogs.

Add pool parties, after-parties, mechanical bull riding and frothy drinks with a cowboy twist, and Cowboy Spring Break-goers will have a Memorial Day weekend experience like no other.

“Cowboy Spring Break has been a long-time in the making and we have an exceptional lineup of entertainment to surround one of PBR’s most popular events,” PBR COO Sean Gleason said. “I know that our cowboy athletes will be ready to enjoy some fun-in-the-sun with PBR fans and western-lifestyle enthusiasts.”

The stars are aligning for the 25th Annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game, a fan favorite event and longstanding tradition of CMA Music Festival! Suiting up to play in this year’s game are country traditionalist and Billboard albums chart topper Aaron Watson; “Nashville” star and singer/songwriter Charles Esten; “Stealing Cinderella” singer and national radio morning show co-host Chuck Wicks; rising country star and “American Idol” finalist Lauren Alaina; guitar slayer and country music vocalist Lindsay Ell; reigning ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town; and hitmakers Love and Theft. Lauren Alaina Plays Grand Ole Opry After Vocal Surgery

Lauren Alaina returned to the Grand Ole Opry stage Saturday night in her first public performance since undergoing vocal cord surgery in August. The Georgia native introduced two new songs, “Doing Fine” and “Breathe Again,” to the Opry audience.

Alaina shares, “There’s nowhere I’d rather make my first appearance back from vocal cord surgery than the Grand Ole Opry. Being able to sing again on that stage is the highlight of my year.”

Alaina is currently in the studio working on the follow-up album to her Billboard 200 Top 5 debut, Wildflower, featuring the fan-favorite tune, “Georgia Peaches.”
