Home Free Covers John Michael Montgomery’s Hit “Sold”

Columbia Records’ all-vocal country group Home Free dropped their video cover of John Michael Montgomery’s hit “Sold” Friday (9/30) while nearing the impressive 100 million views mark on YouTube. Once again, the band’s tight harmonies, mixed with tenor Austin Brown’s solos, Tim Foust’s deep baritone vocals and extraordinary beat boxing by Adam Rupp, continue to produce fresh and entertaining takes on classic country songs.

Directed by Reilly Zamber, McKenzie Zamber, and Jimmy Bates of FifGen Films, Home Free’s entertaining visual accompaniment to their rendition of “Sold” was shot at the Eugene Livestock Auction in Junction City, Oregon, this past August. Offering an homage to John Michael Montgomery’s award-winning video for the original record, the band members jokingly auction themselves off one by one to the ladies in attendance at “The Grundy County Auction.” More than 200 “extras” were featured, as Home Free invited their fans to participate in the shoot.

Adding to the recent excitement, Home Free was just selected by Ticketmaster as one of its inaugural “New Music Favorites,” which spotlights artists who are bound to be big. As a thank you, the group is offering a free download of original song “Don’t It Feel Good” on their Ticketmaster page here.

On the heels of their performance at the 2nd Annual European Country Fest in Austria, Home Free opened for legendary country music band Alabama in Kansas City, MO, last week, bringing the Kansas City crowd to its feet as they joined Alabama on stage for “The Closer You Get” and “Angels Among Us.” The band made a video of the collaboration available via Facebook live. The band is prepping to bring fans a spectacular 31-show A COUNTRY CHRISTMAS Tour this holiday season which is set to launch on November 9 and will stop in 30 cities nationwide. The band expects almost all shows to sell out in advance.

This notoriety has led to a variety of full-throttle performances at events such as the Mid-America Trucking Show and the 2015 Great American Trucking Show, where he opened for country music mainstay, John Anderson.

John Michael Montgomery to Perform National Memorial Day Parade

memorial day parade

The American Veterans Center announces the 12th Annual National Memorial Day parade, in partnership with Helping A Hero, is slated to take place on Monday, May 30th at 2 p.m. ET along Constitution Avenue in our nation’s capital. The parade marks the largest Memorial Day event in the nation, drawing several hundred thousand spectators to line the streets and millions of at-home viewers. Scheduled to perform as part of the musical line-up, is multi-platinum selling country music star John Michael Montgomery, known for numerous No. 1 hits and his poignant salute to soldiers, “Letters From Home.”

Montgomery will give a moving performance of the song, hailed as one of the most moving tributes to the connection between soldiers and their families ever recorded, live before a crowd of veterans and their families, as the parade represents a moving timeline of American military history saluting our nation’s fallen heroes from the Revolutionary War to present-day. The entire event – which marks the largest Memorial Day celebration in the nation – will be broadcasted nationally on REELZ Channel, American Forces Network and online at

Representing our nation’s most recent war – the War on Terror, a stand-out house-shaped float will be featured in the parade’s grand finale honoring veterans of Helping A Hero, 501(c)(3) non-profit and Better Business Bureau accredited organization, which builds specially-adapted homes for wounded veterans. Having awarded over 100 homes in 22 states for severely injured soldiers and their families, Helping A Hero is the third largest organization in that nation for this cause. Veterans to be recognized aboard the float include SSG Shilo Harris, CPL Rob Engelbrecht, SGT Daniel Cowart, EM1 (NUC) Jeff Campbell, USN, SGT Dennis Leonard, HM3 Jennifer Penn, CPL Matt Deatherage, SGT Jackie Rodriguez, SPC Russ Rodriguez, Jonathon Mullen and PFD Kenny Adams – all home recipients of Helping A Hero.

The 12th Annual National Memorial Day Parade will recognize the 75th anniversary of America’s entry into World War II, and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. In honor of the 25th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm, a special tribute will be made to veterans of the Gulf War as hundreds reunite in what will be the largest reunion of those who served in the war since its end in 1991. Additionally, the parade will recognize the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. More than 1,000 active duty military personnel will participate.

The National Memorial Day Parade will commence at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW. It will proceed west down Constitution, ending just past the White House and the National World War II Memorial at 17th street. Participants will pass by the nation’s monuments, memorials, museums, and be greeted by hundreds of thousands of spectators waving their flags and cheering for our country’s heroes – all in honor of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

John Michael Montgomery Delivers Touching Christmas Gift “A Daddy’s Prayer”

john michael montgomery

During Christmas time, in the aftermath of 9/11, John Michael Montgomery sat down to write a song for his small children, Madison (4yrs) and Walker (2yrs). He wanted to them to know how much he loved them and he wondered what kind of world they would grow up in if he were not around, and what a dad would say if it were his last prayer for his children. What spilled out of Montgomery that day was a message of hope. He recorded the song called “A Daddy’s Prayer” and included it on his holiday album MR SNOWMAN, which was released in 2003.

As John Michael has been observing world events and hardship right here at home this past year, he was reminded of the song he wrote so many years ago and was moved to shoot a new video for it, hoping that he might share his message during this season of hope.

“I’ve been wanting to do a video on this song ever since I wrote it after 9/11, because its story line is about how our lives would be forever changed,” says John Michael. “Little did I know 15 years later this song hits home as much as it did back then.”
