James Otto Releases New “Somewhere Tonight” EP Today!

James Otto

Soulful singer and perennial hit-maker James Otto has released a new EP today centered around his infectious and energetic current single “Somewhere Tonight.” The EP marks the first release for Otto on Blaster Records, who announced their signing of the artist last month.

In addition to the single, the three-song EP features another brand new track, “Back It Up” as well as Otto’s take on the Bob Seger classic “Night Moves,” a long-time crowd favorite from his live shows. “Somewhere Tonight,” written by Otto with Corey Crowder, JT Hodges, Patrick Davis and James Slater, recently cracked the Top 5 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 45 and has just been shipped to monitored country radio by Blaster. The EP is available on iTunesAmazonGoogle Play and all other leading digital outlets.

“It feels great to be putting new music out there,” says Otto. “I’ve been really focused on my writing for the last couple of years. Some great friends have cut a bunch of those songs but it’s really exciting to put out a few of them myself.”

One of the most distinctive vocalists in Country music, Otto was honored with a Grammy nomination for his breakout hit “Just Got Started Lovin’ You,” which became the most-played country song of 2008. He is also a co-writer of Jamey Johnson’s “In Color,” which won CMA and ACM “Song of the Year” honors in 2008.

Otto will continue his busy touring schedule, including a month-long trek across Canada this Fall, while finishing the writing and record of his new full-length album. The as-of-yet untitled album is scheduled for release in early 2016 via Blaster.  and @jamesotto

James Otto Inks New Deal with Blaster Records

James Otto

Blaster Records has announced a new recording agreement with artist and Grammy Award-nominated songwriter James Otto, which begins with the label immediately taking over promotion and marketing of Otto’s recently self-released single, “Somewhere Tonight.”

The label has set July 13 as the impact date for the song, which has just cracked the Top 25 on the Music Row airplay chart while climbing into the Top 5 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 45.

“We’d been watching what was happening with “Somewhere Tonight” and were impressed,” said Blaster Records President Derek Simon. “There are a lot of alliances between our camp and James’ team, so one conversation kept leading to another. Both sides were able to be really be creative in quickly structuring a deal that supports what James is trying to do. We’re really excited about how this has all come together.”

Otto previously hit #1 on the Billboard US Country Chart with “Just Got Started Loving You” and is the co-writer of the 2009 CMA and ACM Song Of The Year, Jamey Johnson’s “In Color.”

“I’m so excited about this new partnership with Blaster,” adds Otto. “I’d taken some time off to reflect on my life and my career and it gave me some great perspective and inspiration. I know a bunch of those guys and I knew it was the right fit for me. I’m more focused and committed now than I ever have been in my life. I’m really excited about the future.”

Otto performs this week at CMA Music Festival as part of the Kick-Off Concert on the Chevrolet River Front Stage featuring SiriusXM Highway Finds on Wednesday June 10th at 11:30am in downtown Nashville.

James Otto Returns With New Single “Somewhere Tonight”

Two-time GRAMMY nominee James Otto is back with new music, a new sound and even a new team around him. The country crooner, known for his smash hit “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” and for co-writing the ACM and CMA Song of the Year, “In Color,” has returned to airwaves with new music. His new single “Somewhere Tonight,” written by Otto,  Corey Crowder,  Patrick Davis,  JT Hodges and James Slater can be heard exclusively on SiriusXM’s The Highway and is available for digital download on iTunes, here.

After taking a step back from the spotlight to focus on his family and hone his songwriting, Otto returned to the studio to record music that he feels reveals a renewed promise he made to himself long ago: to create his own distinctive sound in country music.

“Somewhere Tonight” is proof that his hiatus was worth the risk, with relatable and catchy lyrics that so easily paint the picture of crisp fall night with lines like “music’s playing, bonfires blazing like a Vegas sky.” Otto hopes that his fans will relate to the fact that,

“With all the things that happen in life, sometimes you just need to break out and that’s exactly what this song is about. It’s saying, ‘I just want to go somewhere tonight. I wanna forget about all the stress and pressure at work and the busy schedules. I just want to get out, and have some fun.’”

With a 2008 CMA award and a 2009 ACM award for Song of the Year for “In Color” (Jamey Johnson) as well as two GRAMMY nominations, Otto has earned himself the reputation of being one of Nashville’s most captivating songwriters.
