Eli Young Band recently made a special visit to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany to once again entertain members of the Armed Forces.  For Tech. Sgt. Timothy Covey and his family, a night under the stars with the GRAMMY-nominated musicians was the perfect ending to his tour of duty In Germany. With a Permanent Change of Station scheduled just three days later, Covey, his wife Carol and their three children bid Ramstein Air Force Base a fond farewell by enjoying the concert. They were among the estimated 5,500 fans in attendance during the July 16 concert. The Exchange, Pizza Hut and the 86th Force Support Squadron teamed up to present the show.

“We’re country music fans and also fans of the band, so we’re pretty excited to be here,” Tech. Sgt. Covey said. “Events like these are a great morale booster. It’s great to be able to come out and just relax and not have to worry about work.”

The band performed a set for the Kaiserslautern military community, including their new single “Saltwater Gospel,” along with #1 hits “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” “Drunk Last Night,” and “Crazy Girl.”

“What a great event and what better way to show the Kaiserslautern military community how much they are appreciated,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Sean Applegate, the Exchange’s senior enlisted advisor. “The Exchange and Pizza Hut are thrilled to play a role in providing the concert for this wonderful community.”

The day before the concert, Eli Young Band took time to meet with members of the military, sign autographs, take pictures and hand out t-shirts. Fans began lining up hours before the event in anticipation of the festivities.

The show marked the third concert the Eli Young Band has performed for the military community recently, in partnership with Pizza Hut. In October 2014, they made a trip to the winning base, Camp Hansen, in Okinawa, Japan with over 7,000 military members and families in attendance. Last March, they took the stage for a show at Fort Benning, GA for more than 4,000 fans.

Eli Young Band Announce New Single “Saltwater Gospel”

Eli Young Band

Eli Young Band gave their fans some much-anticipated news this week, announcing their latest single “Saltwater Gospel” across social media. Marking the band’s first single for The Valory Music Co., the song will ship to radio next week and will be available on iTunes next Friday, June 10. “Saltwater Gospel” marks the band’s first single for The Valory Music Co. and is a follow up to EYB’s three chart-topping hits “Crazy Girl,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” and “Drunk Last Night.”

The anthemic hook in “Saltwater Gospel” immediately transports the listener to their favorite beach, where the mystical power of the ocean melts away the troubles of everyday life – while connecting them to their own spirituality.  In less than four minutes, the track has the transformative ability to mirror the uplifting effect of the ocean, the sand and the breeze.  Like the rhythm of the waves, verse-by-verse, the song lifts the listener higher and higher, with its steady pulse and soulful cadence.

“I’m out here by myself, but I know I’m not alone

Yeah I got all the proof I need

and it sure makes me believe

When I go down and sink my feet in the water

and I soak up that sun and I watch it set.

Yeah, I can feel the power of the saltwater gospel

I’m as close to God as I can get.

Ooooooo, Oooooo, Yeah….”

EYB lead singer Mike Eli noted,

“sometimes you just have that gut feeling  you’ve come across something special. When I heard this song, it moved me. I love that it is about so much more than just saltwater.”

EYB’s producer Ross Copperman and hit-makers Nicolle Galyon and Ashley Gorley penned “Saltwater Gospel,” infusing all of the hallmarks of a smash. The lead single will be featured on their forthcoming – and first – album for The Valory Music Co., which the band is currently in the studio recording.  EYB will debut their new music at select tour dates this summer.

Big Machine Label Group President & CEO Scott Borchetta exclaims,

“The Eli Young Band are back with perhaps the most infectious new song of the summer. Don’t overthink it, just let Saltwater Gospel play and let it wash over you. You will then know that summer has truly arrived.”

New Music from Eli Young Band Coming Soon

Eli Young Band

It’s been one year since Eli Young Band released their “Turn It On” EP and now the guys are working on a new project due out later this year. We got a sneak preview of eleven new songs that EYB fans are going to love!

  1. “Like a Heart”
  2. “Old Songs”
  3. “Skin and Bones”
  4. “Fingerprints”
  5. “Saltwater”
  6. “Days I Feel Alone”
  7. “Once”
  8. “God Love the Rain”
  9. “Drive”
  10. “Never Again”
  11. “Neverland”

While many of the songs have the up-tempo, catchy vibe that fans are used to hearing on the radio (“Like a Heart” fits that mold), the guys also venture into new territory.

“Saltwater” sounds like a folk gospel tune, tying together the spirituality of the ocean with traditional religion.

The band’s lyrical devotion to the craft of making music has been evident throughout their career, with songs like “Always the Love Songs” and “Even if it Breaks Your Heart” showing glimpses into the soul of musicians. Continuing with that trend is “Old Songs,” which reminds us why nostalgic tunes are so impactful.

If fans are looking for something with an edge, this project offers that, too. “Fingerprints” is a dark, rock-driven track with a lot of grit to it.

While fans will still be able to recognize Mike Eli’s signature lead vocal, the new songs are definitely taking the band in a new musical direction.
