Deana Carter to Sing National Anthem at Republican National Committee Presidential Primary Debate

Deana Carter is set to perform the National Anthem live on CNN and Telemundo as the media groups join the RNC as hosts for the Republican National Committee Presidential Primary Debate on Thursday, February 25, at University of Houston’s Moore’s School of Music Opera House (Opera Center). The debate will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.

CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer will moderate the debate and Telemundo News co-anchor Maria Celeste Arrás, Salem talk radio host Hugh Hewitt and CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash will join as questioners. In addition, Salem Radio Network will be the exclusive radio provider for the debate. This will be the final RNC sanctioned debate before the March 1 Super Tuesday primary elections.

“It is an honor to sing the National Anthem at this historic event,” says award-winning singer Deana Carter. “I have been following all the candidates very closely and am thrilled to be a part of this evening in America’s political history,” she continues.

Deana Carter is a multi-platinum, award-winning singer/songwriter whose CMA Song of the Year “Strawberry Wine,” is still a mainstay on the airwaves after its release nearly 20 years ago. Carter is currently on a national concert tour with stops in Woodland and Fort Worth, Texas, this weekend.

Recently, Carter has been busy writing for her next project, shooting several movies and touring the United States in support of her latest Little Nugget Records release Southern Way of Life.

Deana Carter Releases New Video for “That’s Just Me”

Multiple Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and CMA winner Deana Carter released a new video for “That’s Just Me” from her 2013 release Southern Way of Life.

Carter continues to find success as a singer/songwriter more than a decade after her multi-platinum international debut Did I Shave My Legs For This? that kickstarted her career. Carter is a prolific songwriter and has penned many hits, including Kenny Chesney’s “You & Tequila,” which received CMA, ACM and GRAMMY “Song of the Year” nominations following its release in 2010. She also collaborated with Charles Esten to write a song for the hit-television show, Nashville, helped produce a new album for recording artist Audra Mae and joined The Band Perry for ACM’s Super Star Duets.

Most recently, Carter received her first acting role in the movie Painted Horses, and she is finalizing negotiations on another film role. Carter is represented by UTA. She divides her time between Los Angeles and Nashville, writing and producing for both the pop/rock and country markets when not on the road touring. Grand Ole Opry and iHeart Radio Ready Their Rosters to Strike Out Cancer

The Grand Ole Opry and iHeart Radio are readying their rosters as they prepare to strike out cancer at the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game. More than 25 music and sports stars will step up to the plate for this 25th anniversary event, taking place June 13 from the new First Tennessee Park during CMA Music Festival. Country standouts Angie Johnson, Bret Michaels, Bucky Covington, Deana Carter, JT Hodges, Phil Vassar and The Bobby Bones Show, along with Titans cornerback Perrish Cox and current and former Nashville Predators players Seth Jones and Stu Grimson, will play alongside previously announced participants Aaron Watson, Charles Esten, Chuck Wicks, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Little Big Town, Love and Theft, and Vince Gill to strike out cancer with City of Hope. Winning StageIt performers SaraBeth and Doug McCormick will also take to the field for the anniversary event. CMT After Midnite’s Cody Alan and The Crook and Chase Countdown’s Lorianne Crook will emcee and offer play-by-plays for the thousands of fans in attendance.

It also is a leading biomedical research institute for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. The City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game, presented by Staples and sponsored by PEOPLE Country, raises funds for that research.

Each year, the Celebrity Softball Game regularly features some of Country Music’s biggest and hottest stars. Over the years, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Scotty McCreery, Vince Gill and many more have taken to the field in support of City of Hope’s lifesaving mission.
