Michael W Smith

Three-time GRAMMY winner Michael W. Smith will bring holiday cheer to audiences across the country this holiday season as he launches “The Spirit of Christmas Tour,” set to hit several cities in the U.S. and Canada. Partnering with Smith as the official tour sponsor is Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®.

Earlier this year, Smith debuted his first classic hymns album, aptly named Hymns, exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations and online at The tremendous success of the album, which was recently nominated for a Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year, led to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store signing on as the official tour sponsor.

“I’m really happy to have Cracker Barrel as a tour sponsor,” remarked Smith. “Our local Cracker Barrel has become a very special place over the past several years. It’s where I take my Dad once a week for breakfast. We’ve shared some great memories there that I’ll always cherish. It feels great to have Cracker Barrel as part of my tour.”

“We enjoyed working with Michael and his team when we exclusively released his Hymns album earlier this year, and were so happy for them when it was recently nominated for a Dove Award,” said Cracker Barrel Marketing Manager Julie Craig. “Christmas is a time when families come together, and often they gather to share a meal at Cracker Barrel. When we were approached about sponsoring his ‘Spirit of Christmas Tour,’ we knew it would be a great fit.”

In addition to “The Spirit of Christmas Tour,” Smith will co-headline three special events with long-time friend and fellow GRAMMY® winner Amy Grant. Carrie Underwood To Release “Greatest Hits: Decade #1″

Carrie Underwood

Superstar and six-time GRAMMY® winner Carrie Underwood appeared on NBC’s Today show this morning, where she revealed exclusively that she’ll release her first collection of hits, titled Greatest Hits: Decade #1, on December 9.  With a final track listing to be announced, the album will draw from Underwood’s 18 #1 singles to date, while also featuring new material, kicked off by the first single, “Something in the Water.”  Officially impacting country radio on October 6, “Something in the Water” will be available to stations in time to coincide with the digital single’s retail release on Monday, September 29.

For Underwood, the album is not only a career milestone, but also a perfect way to be able to share some new songs with fans in advance of her next full studio album.  She says,

“I can’t believe it’s been a decade since I auditioned for American Idol.  Looking back at the songs I’ve released over the years lets me relive my amazing journey.  Even better I get to include new music for the fans!”

Produced by longtime Underwood collaborator Mark Bright, and written by Underwood, Chris DeStefano, and Brett James, “Something in the Water” is a song that Carrie says was exciting even as they were writing it, and one that she hopes will touch listeners in the same way that it affects her.

“‘Something in the Water’, is so inspirational,” Carrie says.  “It’s joyous! I can’t help but smile when I hear it. I hope it has the same effect on everyone who listens to it.”

As part of her appearance on this morning’s Today show, Underwood also talked about her participation in tomorrow’s Global Citizen Festival.  Also starring fellow headliners JAY Z, No Doubt, fun., The Roots, and Tiësto, the show will air live from New York’s Central Park, with MSNBC carrying the full concert on cable and  NBC News will also produce a one-hour primetime special of the event to air on NBC at 9pm, ET, this Saturday, September 27th.

Could Carrie Underwood Announce New Music on the Today Show???

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood fans it’s time to set those DVR’s and hopefully get ready for some great news! It looks like Carrie is set to make a very important announcement during a guest appearance on The Today Show on Fri. (Sept. 26).

It has been well over a year since her last single release—”See You Again,” and speculation has run rampant this week as to what the powerhouse has in store next for her fans. Two radio programmers tweeted late last week of impending new music from the superstar; one of them immediately deleted the post, lending itself easily to the rumor mill.

Jay Z, No Doubt, fun., The Roots and Tiësto will also be performing on Sat. (Sept. 27).
