Carrie Underwood Delivers New Opening Theme Song for NBC’s Sunday Night Football

Carrie Underwood

Seven-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood has recorded a new opening theme song for NBC’s Sunday Night Football, primetime television’s No. 1 program for five consecutive years. Entitled “Oh, Sunday Night,” the new SNF opening song is a mix of country, rock, and pop.

“I love being part of the Sunday Night Football family and can’t wait for the fans to hear the new theme song,” said Underwood, who is in her fourth season performing the SNF open for NBC.

“We’re excited to kick off our second decade of Sunday Night Football on NBC with a new opening theme,” said Fred Gaudelli, Executive Producer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and Thursday Night Football. “Earlier this offseason, Carrie said she had a special idea for a new SNF open song. When we got into the recording studio in Nashville, the song instantly came to life, and will be a dynamic addition to our show.”

Gaudelli, the lead producer for all 10 seasons of Sunday Night Football, was recently named Executive Producer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and Thursday Night Football and will oversee production for both primetime packages.

“Oh, Sunday Night” is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” a chart-topping duet from Underwood and Miranda Lambert which was released in 2014 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Underwood worked with the songwriters of “Somethin’ Bad”– Chris DeStefano, Brett James, and Priscilla Renea – to rewrite the lyrics for Sunday Night Football. The result, “Oh, Sunday Night,” was produced by Mark Bright and Chris DeStefano.

“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the SNF theme song from 2006-15, was set to Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”

Carrie Underwood Will Join Keith Urban For First (Ever) New Zealand Concert

Carrie Underwood

Seven-time Grammy winner and Pollstar’s three-time top female country touring artist, Carrie Underwood will join Keith Urban for his and her first (ever) concert in New Zealand as part of Keith’s “ripCORD World Tour 2016.”  This new date at Westpac Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand, on December 3rd, is added to previously announced Australia dates. Tickets for the New Zealand show will be on sale at 12pm on Friday June 24 from Ticketek at www.ticketek.co.nz and fans are urged to sign-up now to the Ticketek waitlist. Tickets for the Australian shows are available at www.ticketek.com.au.

This will be Carrie’s third trip to Australia, having traveled there 4 years ago to the day with her Blown Away Tour to play Melbourne, Tamworth, Brisbane, and Sydney – wrapping with 2 sold-out nights at the iconic Sydney Opera House, and also in 2011 for extensive album promotion. Carrie’s current album, Storyteller, debuted at #1 on Australia’s ARIA Country Albums Chart (#4 all genre) and her current single, Church Bells, has spent 3 (non-consecutive) weeks at #1 on the Australian Country Airplay chart. Urban’s “The Fighter” (featuring Carrie) has been #1 on iTunes’s country songs chart in both Australia and New Zealand.

Carrie recently completed the spring leg of the biggest tour of her career, The Storyteller Tour-Stories in the Round.  The arena tour rolled in to 47 cities and seven different countries, playing to nearly 600,000 people since the tour launched in January.  The tour will pick back up in August and continue through November.
