“Alan Jackson: Music For Mineral” Smithfield Presents Live Concert Event on May 20

Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson will take his show to the small town of Mineral, VA – population 490 – on Sunday, May 20 at 8:00pm in the parking lot of Louisa County High School. In an effort to help raise money for the Louisa Education Foundation (LEF), tickets for Smithfield Presents “Alan Jackson: Music For Mineral” Live Concert Event will go on sale April 4 at 10:00am ET through www.ticketfly.com.

Funds raised for the Louisa Education Foundation (LEF) will be used to assist the county public schools in their rebuilding efforts as a result of an August 2011 earthquake. The fund will help in the rebuilding of the Louisa County High School and be earmarked for replacement of the school’s extensively-used auditorium. The Louisa County High School is currently condemned after earthquake damage.

In addition to the concert, The Alan Jackson Charity Golf Classic will be held at The Royal Virginian Golf Course on the morning of Saturday, May 19. For details on registering as a player or team, please visit http://www.theroyalvirginian.com/Tournaments.html. All proceeds from the tournament will help fund LEF.

Jackson’s concert is the culmination of a national campaign. Fans across the country had two months last fall to vote, with the winning city receiving a concert from Jackson. The little town of Mineral amassed over 31,000 votes and won the opportunity to host the concert. Mineral continues to repair and rebuild after they were the epicenter of a rare East Coast earthquake that hit on August 23, 2011, causing widespread damage in the region.

Alan Jackson Re-Releases Precious Memories

Alan Jackson

Country music superstar Alan Jackson has re-released his 2006 gospel album Precious Memories, which broke records by topping three Billboard charts on its week of release – Top Country Albums, Top Christian Albums and Top Christian & Gospel Albums. The release is on ACR (Alan’s Country Records) and EMI Records Nashville.

The 15-track album of classic hymns was originally recorded as a Christmas gift for Jackson’s mother. The recording was very simple – just a piano and acoustic guitar – and a few CDs were pressed for Jackson’s family and close friends. With enthusiastic encouragement from these friends, family and his record label, it was decided to make the music available to Jackson’s fans…and for six years countless people enjoyed such timeless hymns as “Softly and Tenderly,” “I’ll Fly Away”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Tis So Sweet to Trust In Jesus.”

“I love those songs, and they mean a lot to me,” Jackson says. “I grew up singing just about every one of those. And I love that sound, of that organ, and that music really stuck with me and, I’m sure, affected how I hear songs now and write songs, ‘cause a lot of those old songs are really pretty, simple melodies that stick with you.”

Over time, retail supplies of Precious Memories dwindled as fans purchased the remaining copies of the original production. That’s when the e-mails, letters and inquiries started coming. “We had so many people still wanting it and asking about it,” Jackson explains. “It’s just amazing. So we decided to put it back out and have it available again.”

The GAC (Great American Country) Precious Memories special will re-air this Easter weekend – Saturday, April 7 10:30pm ET, Sunday, April 8 2:30am ET and 9:30am ET.

BamaJam

BamaJam 2012 is getting closer and closer and we hope everyone is as excited as we are! With any festival of this size, there are bound to be common questions, misconceptions and assumptions. We’ve decided to address some of these and answer openly and honestly, so you know what to expect. We hope to see everyone at BamaJam 2012 on June 14-16 in Enterprise, Alabama!

1) Is BamaJam 2012 really going to happen? Absolutely!!!! If you don’t believe us, just ask Kid Rock, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Willie Nelson, Uncle Kracker and NEEDTOBREATHE.

2) Rumor has it that you landed a title sponsor to BamaJam 2012 and I hear that they have a slogan that includes music? Is that really true? That rumor has been circulating around the music world and you will be able to see who our title sponsor is and it is BETTER than “the Real Thing!”

3) Tickets will be available for $20 on the day of the event in the parking lot. Absolutely not. Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event at the gate for $189.00.

4) Is it true I can buy a ticket and be on the stage with my favorite artists? Yes! We offer a special on-stage festival ticket that is available for $999. These are limited and will go fast, so get them while they’re still available!

5) Will there be alcohol served or can I bring a cooler? No outside food or beverage will be allowed into the festival, including a cooler. You are allowed to bring in an empty bottle and will be able to fill it with water on premises. Alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages will be sold inside the festival area.
