Aftershocks from last summer’s 5.8-magnitude East Coast earthquake are still being felt, literally, but Alan Jackson delivered a much better one in Virginia this past Sunday. The Music For Mineral: Aftershock of Hope concert helped raise more than $150,000 to help rebuild local schools around Mineral, VA.
“People here were so incredibly appreciative of Alan coming and performing,” says one attendee. “The work is not over, by any means,” a local says. “But this was a big boost for all the folks here affected by the quake. This one won’t be forgotten.”
The town won the contest to bring a free Alan Jackson concert to a community with the most fan votes. Folks near and far encouraged votes for the stricken town via social media and the internet.
