Rising country group LANCO is celebrating one of the biggest wedding songs of 2017, “Greatest Love Story,” which reached the top of country radio charts at the end of the year and has been certified PLATINUM for more than a million singles sold.

Lead singer Brandon Lancaster wrote the song by himself, combining personal experiences and stories from people close to him.

“The foundation of the song is from my own life. I took some stories and some characters from my experiences growing up … and put it all together in one song. It’s kind of the ultimate ode to songwriting, both experiencing and observing.”

Since the release of the song, bassist Chandler Baldwin married his sweetheart Natalie. That personal milestone brought even greater meaning to the song’s success.

“The first time I played that song after I proposed, it was that line “I got down on one knee” …and it felt totally different. I understand the song and story more.”

As the sole writer of the song, Brandon has been astounded by the impact of the song in people’s lives.

“I just didn’t think about how many people would make this a wedding song. You’re now part of a memory that is one of the biggest days of their life. It’s pretty crazy. It’s incredible. Your dream as an artist is that your part of people’s stories and part of people’s lives. To be that big a part of that big a chapter is more than we ever asked for, but we’re so thankful.”

And the band is just getting started. LANCO will release their debut full-length album “Hallelujah Nights” on January 19. The project was produced by Jay Joyce, who has also produced albums for Eric Church, Little Big Town, Brothers Osborne, and more. LANCO keyboard player Jared Hampton says that they learned incredible lessons from the famed producer.

“He’s taught us the aspect of being human. The important thing about recording music is making it you. You’re not a robot. He’ll make you stand up, he’ll make you play like it’s a show.”

Brandon added,

“He’s helped us understand what a band is and what it is to be a band. It’s not five guys who are really good, it’s five guys who can play with each other. And five guys who know when to let each other push and pull. A band isn’t just about the writer or the guitar solo, it’s about the chemistry, it’s about the relationship with each other.”

So what can you expect to hear on “Hallelujah Nights”?

“This whole album really showcases the realities of life and celebrating them. You get to hear not having any money, you get to hear questioning your relationships, you get to hear finding relationships. And the sonic aspect of it matches the lyrics as well. There’s attitude, there’s really rocking songs, there’s more stripped back songs. You get to really hear our entire musical journey on it,” says Brandon.
