Twelve-time CMA Awards winner Miranda Lambert took the Marathon Music Works stage in Nashville on Tuesday with fourteen of the songwriters from Lambert’s album The Weight of These Wings for a special taping of CMA Songwriters Series presented by U.S. Bank with the public television concert program “Front and Center”.
Songwriters who appeared with Lambert included Jessi Alexander, Brent Cobb, Luke Dick, Anderson East, Natalie Hemby, Adam Hood, Jack Ingram, Shane McAnally, Waylon Payne, Aaron Raitiere, Jon Randall, Liz Rose, Gwen Sebastian, and Scotty Wray – all sharing the stories and inspiration behind the songs on Lambert’s double-Platinum album. She also brought her very first co-writer, her dad Rick Lambert, onstage for a special performance of “Greyhound Bound for Nowhere,” which the two co-wrote for her debut album Kerosene. The episode will air early 2018.
The show will give fans a candid and intimate look at the writing process of ‘The Weight of These Wings,’ and the ultimate healing that took place. Miranda was very open about her divorce, the drinking that ensued and the tears that were cried. She told stories of leaving her car in bar parking lots for days, wearing the same mascara for days and rolling around a cooler of her very own to writing sessions. The end result, a stunning and raw album.
