Reba McEntire, Brandy Clark, Lee Ann Womack along with surprise guests Martina McBride, William Michael Morgan, Hunter Hayes and Andrea Pearson brought the house down at the City Winery earlier this week to a sold-out crowd of 400. Raising over $50,000 benefiting the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, proceeds collected will fund AFA initiatives in the Nashville area. The “AFA Evening Together For Care For the Love of Jewel Austin” was produced by Warner Music Nashville’s VP Creative Director, Shane Tarleton. The star-studded event honored the memory of Tarleton’s grandmother, Jewel Austin, who passed away from Alzheimer’s disease.
“Honoring my grandmother with an event like this has been a dream of mine for the past eight years,” Tarleton explained. “Having a lineup of my closest friends along with a room full of family and friends made this extra special. My granny would’ve have loved every minute of this show, I know I sure did!”
Proceeds from “AFA Evening Together for Care For the Love of Jewel Austin” benefited The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), a national non-profit organization with more than 2,600 member organizations nationwide, dedicated to assuring quality of care and excellence in service to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, and their families and caregivers.
Alzheimer’s disease affects more than 5 million Americans living with the illness, and their families and caregivers. It is the sixth most common cause of death in the United States, and the only one in the top 10 without a cure.
