Kane Brown’s highly anticipated self-titled debut album debuted No. 1 today on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and Top 10 on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 units (45,000 in album sales). With Kane Brown, the breakout singer/songwriter noted for “breaking country’s rules” (Billboard) earns the best-selling debut country album of the past two years and marks the largest country debut for a new artist since Sam Hunt’s Montevallo in 2014. This also marks Sony Music Nashville’s 6th consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart in 2016; in fact, all of the label group’s studio releases this year debuted at the top of the chart. Released December 2 on RCA Nashville/Zone 4, the album quickly resonated among fans and critics alike, and is available HERE.
“I’m so grateful to all the fans, and to Dann Huff, Matt McVaney and the songwriters on the album, who helped me tell my story to the world through this record. A No. 1 Country album is a dream come true, made possible through the hard work of everyone involved,” said Kane Brown.
Initially known for using his rich self-taught baritone to perform Country covers and original songs via his Facebook profile page, Brown independently grew his social fan base to 3-million-plus followers. With the release of his debut album, Brown lands consecutive Top 10 Billboard 200 and back-to-back Top 5 Billboard Country projects in less than a year. Brown’s self-released EP from March 2016, Chapter 1, was highest-debuting Country EP in the SoundScan era and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Country albums chart, No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums all genre chart, and No.1 on the iTunes Overall all genre Albums and iTunes Country Albums charts- all prior to radio air play.
Hailed as “one of country music’s most promising newcomers” (Music Row), the singer/songwriter co-penned seven of the album’s 11 tracks, including the autobiographical anthem, “Learning,” which “showcases a strength built through his turbulent childhood, and resolve to forgive and move forward.”
Earlier this month, Brown made his national television debut on “Ellen” (12/1) and his morning show debut on NBC’s “TODAY Show” (12/7), and has been featured by USA TODAY, The New York Times, Washington Post, Billboard, People, US Weekly, and Seventeen Magazine. Named a 2016 “Artist To Watch” by Billboard, Rolling Stone, Taste of Country, HITS, and The Huffington Post, the Georgia-native was also selected to Ticketmaster’s first-ever New Music Favorites series which recognizes up-and-coming stand-out talent. After opening for Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 “Dig Your Roots” tour, Brown is now headlining the Kane Brown Monster Energy Outbreak Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour through January. Upcoming stops include Indianapolis (12/15), Chicago (12/17), Minneapolis (12/18), Cleveland (12/29), and Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater (1/6). For a full list of tour dates, visit kanebrownmusic.com.
