Dolly Parton is doing all she can to help the area in which she calls home. She is organizing a Nashville telethon to benefit the fire victims and area of East Tennessee. More information will be announced in the coming days for the December 13th event. 100 Percent of the proceeds will go towards the victims of these devastating fires.
This assistance is in addition to the My People Fund that Dolly announced last week. Which vows to donate $1000 per month per family who lost their homes in the blaze for at least 6 months. The fund recently reached $1 Million, allowing the first checks to be distributed next week.
Any family who lost their primary residence (renters and homeowners) due to the wildfires in Sevier County will be eligible. A pre-application for those affected will be available at dollywoodfoundation.org beginning Friday at 4 p.m. Completion of the pre-application is not required, but is encouraged to expedite the distribution process.
The first funds will be distributed Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 19-20 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Care More Assistance Center at the LeConte Events Center in Pigeon Forge. Anyone needing assistance in the application process should call 1-800-DOLLYWOOD.
