Last night, Keith Urban brought his RipCord World Tour to Nashville with tourmates Maren Morris and Brett Eldredge. True to form, Keith brought a show where the music is center stage; taking a backseat only to passion, the fans and artistry.
Kicking-off the show was CMA New Artist of the Year Maren Morris. She brought her own brand of country performing songs from her debut album, Hero. Wearing ultra-short leather shorts and a maroon lace bodice, Maren performed “Drunk Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sugar,” “I Could Use a Love Song,” her current single “80’s Mercedes” before ending her set with the mega-hit “My Church.”
Brett Eldredge took the stage next, crooning through his hits “Drunk On Your Love,” “Wanna Be that Song,” “Lose My Mind,” “Mean to Me,” “Beat of the Music” and of course, “Don’t Ya.” Brett took a break mid-set for some acoustic tunes.
The main event, Keith Urban, took the stage to “Gone Tomorrow, Here Today,” before guitar slinging through hits such as “Long Hot Summer,” Break on Me,” “Blue,” “You Gonna Fly,” “Days Go By,” “Cop Care,” “Little Bit of Everything,” “Fighter,” “and more. As always, Keith puts on a show that puts the fans into the show. Signs were abundant in the crowd, and one in particular grabbed Keith’s attention… Well, two actually that read “8 Months Pregnant” and “Sing Her Into Labor.” The two girls were treated to an up close and personal serenade on stage to “Blue Ain’t Your Color” because the impending bundle is a bouncing baby boy which luckily, didn’t end in a future Keith Urban fan being born on stage.
Keith made sure to bring out his supporting acts for some special tunes. Maren took the place of Miranda Lambert in “We Were Us” and Brett joined Keith for “Somebody Like You.”
Probably the biggest surprise of the night was Eric Church joining Keith for “Record Year” before busting out “Raise ‘Em Up.”
There’s not another show quite like Keith Urban’s. The stage, the lighting, and the special effects are all secondary to what’s the main event… Great Music. Great Musicianship. Great Passion.
