Trace Adkins is rumored to have fallen of the wagon. The singer, who’s battled with alcoholism for nearly 30 years, was reportedly drunk while performing at a St. Jude fundraiser, Rockin’ Country Thunder 106 Guys with Guitars Under the Stars concert.
“You couldn’t hear him except for him mumbling,” said Bill Erdek of Edison. “My girlfriend said I think he’s drunk or something and everyone was picking up their chairs and leaving.”
TMZ later posted a video of Trace struggling to perform one of his typically high-energy songs.
“Apparently we have one of our country music family who needs our love, support and understanding. I hope you’ll take a moment and send a positive thought, support and prayer,” posted Chris VanZant, program director for Thunder 106 on the station’s Facebook page.
Trace has donated his fees for the evening to St. Jude, but no word on the entire debacle.
“The solution we reached with Trace in donating his appearance fee to benefit the children of St. Jude’s should allow each of us to move on from this event and realize that criticizing and intolerance does not advance the public good,” said Richard Morena, general manager of Thunder 106, the radio station that promoted the concert. “Taking a positive and affirmative action is what matters and that is what we have done in this instance.”
We are praying for Trace to get the help he needs.
