Garth Brooks Previews ‘Inside Studio G: A Monday Night Conversation’

Today Garth Brooks previewed, “Inside Studio G: A Monday Night Conversation.” It was the first time video cameras were allowed to shoot in the historic Allentown Record Studio.

Brooks opened the session from the “Living Room” of the studio, giving fans some background about the many iconic musicians who have recorded from there over the years. There were a number of memorable moments throughout the nearly 25-minute stream, one of which included a response to one an #AskGarth fan inquiry. When asked about the best piece of advice he ever received while working on his eponymous first album, Garth recounted the time he was singing, and trying too hard to sound like George Strait in the recording booth. Producer Allen Reynolds, for whom the studio is named, pulled him aside to remind him that there was already one George Strait and Garth would succeed if he would “just be [him]self”. In addition to answering questions, Garth provided viewers with tales of his recent shows at Yankee Stadium, and gave them an idea of what’s to come on “Inside Studio G” including a trip inside the recording studio, insight into the marketing process, and more from the making of his new album, which he called “stupid fun”. He wrapped the video with a clear message – “Mondays are now gonna be my new favorite night!”
“Inside Studio G” will officially premiere next Monday, July 18th, 7:00pm ET/ 4:00pm PT. Garth is encouraging everyone to get involved in the process and post instagram videos and twitter questions using #AskGarth- some might even be included in next week’s premiere broadcast.

Allentown Recording Studio was built as a house in the late 1800’s. It was an art studio that became a recording studio when it was purchased by Hall of Fame songwriter, producer Jack Clement in the early seventies. The Studio was known as Jack’s Tracks. One of his writers was Allen Reynolds. When Clement went to sell it, Allen stepped up and bought it. Allen went on to record all the major hits of Crystal Gayle in the ‘demo’ studio. He also cut the first two Don Williams records there.

Thru the years, Allen recorded many great artists there, including Kathy Mattea, Hal Ketchum, George Hamilton the IV, Bobby Bare, The Dillards, Mary Kay James and many more. In 1988, Garth Brooks was in need of a producer. Garth went on to record the bulk of his catalog at Jack’s Tracks. When Allen announced his retirement, Garth bought the studio. In Allen’s honor, Garth re-named the studio Allentown Recording Studio.

Garth Brooks is certified by the RIAA as the #1-selling solo artist in U.S. history with over 137 million albums. He has received every accolade the recording industry can bestow on an artist. Garth has been inducted into the International Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame and most recently, the Musicians Hall of Fame.

Garth is currently on the three year Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. The tour began with 11 sold out shows at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. The tour is smashing records previously held by such act as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and even Garth Brooks. In just over a year and a half, the tour is approaching 5 MILLION tickets sold making it the biggest tour in the world.
