CMA Fest is winding down, and HOT, so we did our best to keep cool by minimizing our time outside and enjoying some activities on the inside. We checked out Jamie Lynn Spears and Halfway to Hazard at the Chevy Cruz stage. This was the first time we’ve seen Jamie, and she sounded amazing! I have to say, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. She sang good music really well, and had a great interaction with the crowd. Halway to Hazard is always a favorite. These guys are so nice, and there’s really no good reason that they haven’t “made it” yet. Their music is great, and they have a ton of passion and talent.
Then we headed into the Country Music Hall of Fame for a Q & A with Mickey Guyton. Lemme tell ya…. This girl CAN. SING!!!! She also introduced a special guest, “American Idol” finalist Tristan McIntosh. The two performed “Why Baby Why.” Both did amazing!!!
We also interviewed Sara Evans and Todd Chrisley. First. Very entertaining. Second. They were exhausted from a full day of interviews, so it probably wasn’t as entertaining as it could’ve been.
The nightly concerts at LP were definitely for the young at heart with Chris Young who surprised the crowd by bringing out Cassadee Pope to perform “Think of You.” Awesome as always. Chris was followed up by Cole Swindell and then Florida Georgia Line. They did what they do, rocked the stadium with their party anthems, and the crowd loved every second of it.
Steven Tyler was thrown into the mix, and we were not disappointed. I mean, let’s be real. It’s Steven Tyler. He sang a couple of country songs with some Aerosmith hits in the mix, but things turned up another notch when he brought out Martina McBride to perform his hit “Crying.”
Blake Shelton closed out the night. His laid back stage presence was honestly a breath of fresh air after all the high production events of the night. Just Blake and his sense of humor and all was right with the world.
