Carrie Underwood Will Return to ‘Sunday Night Football’

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood will return to sing the Sunday Night Football theme song for the 2016-2017 NFL season.  Carrie has been singing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” since 2013.

She shared the news with fans on Twitter Thursday (May 19),  and said she is “honored and excited” to be back in the role.

“I love football. I’m honored they asked me to kick it off,” Carrie says about being asked to sing the SNF theme. “Hopefully when people hear the song, they’ll just feel ready for the big game!”

Fans will first get to hear Carrie’s 2016-2017 Sunday Night Football theme on Sept. 8 (a Thursday), when the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos face the Carolina Panthers. The game is set for 8:30PM ET on NBC.

Carrie is currently on the road, on her 2016 Storyteller Tour, which she recently extended through November. After that, she’ll head “down under,” to Australia, with Keith Urban in December.

YES!!!!!! Carrie gets us pumped up for the game as only Carrie can. A group of us attended her Storyteller concert and it is AMAZING. She is all over that huge impressive stage and never runs out of breath at all, even while she is singing All American Girl while carrying a camera and running all over the stage. WOW!!! Who knew she could play a mean harmonica? Her concert is on par with any of the pop stars and beyond any country artist. Her vocals are on point and she commands the stage and audience from the start to finish of the concert. She is in a league of her own and a truly a mega superstar. Country is lucky to have her and she remains true to the genre. Kudos to Carrie. Can’t wait to see her again in the Fall.
