Singer-songwriter and musician Corey Smith has been hard at work raising money for the Seva Foundation this spring.

Recently, Smith hosted an online contest on Chideo, to benefit the cause closest to him, the Seva Foundation. Since 1978, Seva Foundation has been a leading innovator in the delivery of vital eye care services to the world’s most vulnerable including women, children, and indigenous peoples. Seva Foundation partners worldwide to create self-sustaining programs that preserve and restore sight, with a vision of a world free of avoidable blindness. In 35 years, Seva has helped restore eyesight to nearly 3.5 million people who were blinded by cataract and other preventable eye conditions. The funds raised from Smith’s contest will go to Seva, where they will fund an eye camp in a country that doesn’t get regular access to eye care.

This past weekend Corey took the contest winner and nine friends on tour with him to his shows at Soul Kitchen in Mobile, AL and Jannus Landing in St. Pete, FL.

Smith says,

“I’ve had the honor of working with Seva Foundation for over 7 years and was very excited to be able to give fans a chance to contribute to their cause through our partners at Prizeo. Seva has been helping to restore sight and save vision for some the of the world’s neediest people for over 30 years. It is a great blessing to know that my fans have shown so much enthusiasm in helping Seva in their mission.“

The Country Music Association announced the Riverfront Stage lineup for CMA Fest lineup earlier this week, and Smith will perform again on June 11. Last year Smith’s performance was named “Best Capacity Crowd by Rolling Stone Country. Joe Hudak says, “Shortly into the Jefferson, Georgia singer-songwriter’s set on the Riverfront stage, CMA Fest organizers were forced to close the gates. Such was the demand to see Smith, an artist wildly popular among college kids (and those long since out of the dorms) for coming-of-age songs like ‘Twenty-One,’ ‘If I Could Do It Again’ and the winking ‘Ain’t Going Out Tonight.’ In a denim-vest-on-denim ensemble, Smith may have looked like the cool guy who never leaves campus, but his set revealed a soul-searching that only comes from equal parts experience and intellect.”

Smith will also continue to tour this spring and summer in support of his newest release, While The Gettin’ Is Good, featuring stops in Oklahoma, Arkansas and South Carolina, amongst others. A full list of dates is available below.
