Old Dominion to Perform at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s 2016 World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest


Celebrating 43 years of great barbecue, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ announces the live performance line-up for the World’s Champion Bar-B-Que Contest, sponsored by Comcast business, to help kick-off the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo. Taking place February 25-27, attendees will get a taste of authentic Country Music, with performances by Old Dominion, Bart Crow, Pat Green, Cameran Nelson, Rich O’Toole and more.

Net proceeds benefit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. With each ticket purchased, visitors are treated to a complimentary chopped beef sandwich plate. Guests will get the opportunity to enjoy their complimentary meal on the porch-style area at The Chuck Wagon. This year be sure and stop by the Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon. There are no tent passes required to enjoy either of these venues. An NRG Park Season Pass is $25 and is valid through the run of the contest and the duration of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (March 1 – March 20, 2016). Tickets are available for purchase online at, or at the contest gates.

Thursday, Feb. 25: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 26: noon to 11 p.m.
Saturday, Feb 27: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Adult (ages 13 and over): $15
Child (ages 3 to 12): $5
Children age 2 and under: Free

Invitational and Go Texan teams feature the most creative in barbecue décor, with pits disguised as fire engines, covered wagons, airplanes, waste disposal trucks, the state of Texas and armadillos, just to name a few. More than
250 teams comprising over 400 entries compete for best overall barbecue. Judging will be held Saturday, Feb. 27. The awards presentation will begin at The Garden at 6 p.m. with the results being announced at 7 p.m.

The Garden, a festive gathering place inside the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, will feature street dancing with live entertainment each night. The Garden Stage is sponsored by Miller Lite. The entertainment schedule is as follows:

The Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon is open to the public inside the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest and features live entertainment.

The Carnival is open during the contest for family enjoyment of all ages.
