Going into the final season of American Idol Carrie Underwood is no longer the top earning alum!
Carrie has been dethroned as Forbes’ Top Earning American Idol alum, after holding the title in 2013 and 2014. For the publication’s 2015 list, a somewhat surprising name has risen to the top: Adam Lambert.
The season eight runner-up has been busy over the last year, with the majority of his $10 million earnings (a career high!) coming from his high-profile gig touring with Queen. Lambert also released a new album with Warner Bros. Records last year, titled The Original High.
Carrie comes in on Forbes’ list at No. 2 with $8 million earned last year. Her latest album, Storyteller, sold more than 150,000 units in its first week, and she’s poised for a big year in 2016 thanks to her Storyteller Tour.
No. 3 on the list is Chris Daughtry and his band raking in $6 million touring over the last year. Phillip Phillips ranks at No. 4 with $5 million, while Scotty McCreery and Kelly Clarkson tie things up at No. 5 with $4 million each.
