Willie Nelson will headline the 2016 Luck Banquet, an exclusive boutique event held at Willie Nelson’s private “Luck, TX” in the heart of the hill country. Featuring a dynamic artist roster, the immersive Luck Banquet also celebrates artisans and chefs, offering specialty pop-up shops and the best of Austin cuisine. Luck Banquet will take place on Friday, March 18th.
Luck Banquet is a unique festival dedicated to cultivating and showcasing the ever-evolving American roots music community; revitalizing Nelson’s beloved Luck, TX as a lasting hub for the legacies among us and the artists carrying their torch.
Luck Banquet gathers a wide-ranging roster of country, rock, folk, and soul artists. Showcasing over 20 acts, Luck Banquet carefully selects each performer keeping in mind their contribution to the “outlaw” narrative – providing a unique platform for artists who, like the outliers before them, follow their dreams and influences without compromise.
“We believe that the best way to honor the true Americana story is by embracing the spirit of the movement and harboring a community that pushes boundaries – celebrating the wild, gritty, and ultimately beautiful work of artists we love,” said event founders Luck Productions. “The support of Willie, and the opportunity to revive ‘Luck’ as an artistic gathering place, is a gift.”
Luck Banquet will showcase artists on two stages: a revival-style tent next to the town’s chapel, and the main stage overlooking the front porch of Nelson’s private “World Headquarters”. The day will kick off in the revival tent with a collaborative song-swap set curated by Heartworn Highways Revisited, the groundbreaking sequel to the iconic music film Heartworn Highways, setting the tone for an unprecedented day of music.
An escape from the SXSW crowds, Luck Banquet offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the grounds that served as the set for Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger. Between sets, patrons can visit boutique pop-up shops; enjoy cuisine from Austin’s famous food trucks; and sip a cocktail in the Saloon.
On Thursday, March 17th, the eve of the concert event, Luck will also host an exclusive “Chef’s Pot Luck” dinner benefitting Wholesome Wave, an organization making fresh, locally grown food available for low-income families. Guests will enjoy a seated multi-course meal prepared by an all-star chef lineup including Wholesome Wave founder Michel Nischan, Dean Fearing, Scott Conant, Michael Chiarello and John Mitchell; followed by an intimate starlit performance by Willie Nelson. Additional ticket details will be announced soon.
